I've always thought it was a shame that the movies didn't include the talking letter Aunt Petunia received that proclaimed "REMEMBER MY LAST!" when the Dursley's were on the verge of kicking Harry out of their house, prompting her to defy her husband and insist that Harry remain in their custody. I was quite touched what it was revealed that Dumbledore had sent it as a reminder that Harry is protected as long as he remains under their roof, a fact he had revealed in the original letter he had given them when Harry was left on their doorstep all those years ago. She had known about it all along and made sure he stayed safe. Even though they treated him terribly, he would have been known as "the boy who hadn't lived very long" if not for her. It redeemed her character just a bit. My take on it was she didn't want Harry to outshine Dudley because he was special the way she had been overshadowed by her sister Lily and that's why she was so willing to allow the poor treatment Harry received.

I think one of the biggest "omissions " from book to movie is how infuriatingly CALM he is. .despite battles, underhandedness by others, etc. Until....he has a student mistreated or in danger. Then, he is shockingly terrifying. It was an injustice how he was portrayed from movies 3 to 6, though Harris, I think, had the character down pretty well.

Now an interesting thing to note, and it appears to come back a bit in the Fantastic Beasts series, but not in the Harry Potter movies, is the hint that Dumbledore is actually homosexual and falling in love with Gellert Grindelwald. This love may be an essential thing to understand Dumbledore's character since his brilliancy, his arrogance AND his love for Grindelwald almost turned Dumbledore into a very dangerous dark wizard and maybe even more dangerous than Voldemort ever was. The death of his sister Ariana and the possibility he was her killer, was his wake-up-call. But it also comes back in a few very important plot elements about him (which the movies never fully cover). 1. Harry asked Dumbledore what he would see in the mirror of Erised, and Dumbledore never answered that question honestly. It was originally seeing Ariana alive and himself reconciled with Aberforth, and in the Fantastic Beasts series we see Grindelwald (also a clear reference to his love for him) in the mirror when Dumbledore looks in it. 2. Dumbledore's search for the Deathly Hallows was in the books much more elaborated than in the films. The previous owner of the Elder wand was Gellert Grindelwald. And Dumbledore's signature had the "A" for Albus written as the logo of the Hallows. 3. Many witches and wizards wanted Dumbledore to be minister for magic, but he always refused leading to Fudge getting the position. Due to his relationship with Grindelwald and the fact he realized he had almost become one of the most dangerous wizards of all time himself, he didn't entrust himself with the power a minister for magic would have. 4. Now the movies already show that Aberforth and Albus had not a very healthy brother-relationship, however the books explain this was due what happened with Grindelwald and how it led to Ariana's death. The movies hardly mention this. And perhaps, although not a single medium shows this, this is also the reason why Dumbledore wanted Snape to perform the kill that Voldemort tasked Draco Malfoy with in order not to burden Draco with murder. Carrying the death of Ariana on his shoulders (although Albus was never 100% he was the killer) makes him know what burden would be placed on Draco's shoulders. But that is my own theory, completely apart from the 4 I mentioned above.

Good thing I was reading the books, Yeah I know about all of that. I am just upset of too things: 1.Books came to my knowledge after the films. 2.The films cut out, a lot about the characters, and sometimes slayed them, it's almost like it's not the same character. The best example, is the character of Ron Weasley, in the movies he presented as stupid, and I believed it to be so, until I was reading the books, to find out the movies murdered his personality.

#3 was incorrect. A portrait of Dumbledore was seen in the movie. It can be seen in the scene where Professor McGonigal and Harry are alone in the Headmaster's office at the end of The Half-Blood Prince. McGonigal tells Harry in this scene that Harry meant a great deal to Dumbledore. I don't know if this scene was added later, or if it was actually in the original theatrical release, but having just watched the movie yesterday on Peacock, it is definitely there.

Regarding letters to petunia, i vividly remember a specific letter she got, I wanna say it was from Minerva. That specifically threatened her to make them give Harry an actual bedroom instead of the cupboard under the stairs. And that was why the line “we gave you Dudley’s second bedroom, out of the kindness of our own hearts!” Was so significant. However…. I cannot find any evidence of this scene. Or letter. Nothing in the books even… and I hadn’t read the books yet at that time, so I’m positive it was in the movies somewhere. But it just isn’t.. i feel like I’m going crazy. i think that Petunia wasn't jealous of lily. Her love for her sister was so much that wanted to be with her sister, and the reason she dislikes magic was because it took her sister away from her, 1st by her going to hogworts and finally by her death. Her love for lilly was the protection from Voldermort. On some level, you might be right about Petunia, but she was definitely jealous. We see a scene in Snape's memories, from just before Snape reveals himself and tells Lily that she's a witch, where Lily shows off by jumping from a very high swing and landing very slowly; she then picks up a flower and causes it to dance in her palm. Petunia tells her to stop, as if she's frightened, but then asks, "How do you do it?" with a tone of longing in her voice. There is no doubt that Petunia felt inferior to her sister, and jealous of how their parents praised her for her magic.

One thing that neither movie viewers nor book readers would know is that Dumbledore was gay, and as a young man had an affair with Grindlewald. At one time during the writing, G. K. Rowling was asked why there were no gay character in her books. Her answer was that there was, Albus Dumbledore. He had been in love with Grindlewald. In the quarrel that ended the affair, Dumbledore's sister was killed by a stray curse. The books reveal that, as Grindlewald embarked on his criminal career, Dumbledore refused to face him in combat, though many people wanted him to. In the end, Dumbledore set aside his feelings of love and defeated him, resulting in Grindlewald being sent to Azkaban, where he was at the start of the stories.

There is no Honky the house elf... you my be referring to Hokey the house elf... Hokey was a female house-elf that belonged to Hepzibah Smith. She was framed in the murder of her mistress by Tom Riddle.

Honky the House Elf was a very Pale House Elf that liked to bark orders at other House elves and thought he was better than them. He had no rhythm though, and could not dance.

Rejecting her is kind of BS, there's plenty she can do/learn without innate magical abilities like potions or history.
