What an informative piece, Don! Free Rum? and I thought I would be bored in the Bahamas. LOL You just made me sorry I avoided Bahamian ports when choosing a ship's itinerary; sounds like I was very wrong indeed. At least I enjoyed the Stingray City off the Caymans and had plenty of free "taste-testing" on Curacao, beer and many flavors of authentic Curacao. As a Kentucky bourbon drinker, there are benefits of "sipping" a neat drink. I've mastered the art of ordering one two-fingers of Maker's and having it last all evening long. (neat, no ice, and a tall side of water, please.) If there is a next time, I most definitely will put Nassau on the list. Back in the 90s I had planned a trip to Montserrat, was all ready to go, and boom! a volcano destroyed so much of the island. Lesson learned: Go & Do, because it might not be there tomorrow! Thanks again.

The best thing that I have done in Nassau ..okay 2 things... Offroading tour on a Segway. Was awesome! Very fun even if you are fat and 50! And swimming with dolphins but not at that big hotel. I went to a private island via water taxi and spent the day there. I almost missed the ship! Yes...I was That person!

Good morning Don. Tom and I will swim with sting rays on our 1st October cruise. My sister calls me the sting ray whisper. When I was in tampa at a baseball game they had a sting ray tank. everyone had food and was feeding the sting rays. I didn't have food I put my hand in the water and literally all the sting rays came over to me and refused to goto other people. I had to walk away from the tank. 10 minutes later went back and all the sting rays came over to me again. So, when Tom found that out he made reservations I cant wait we make make reservation for doplins but I already swam with dolphins off fort desauto beach in florida in their natural habitat they approached and swam with me for 45 minutes. they swam circles around me. I saw their teeth tongue eyes and mist coming out of their blow holes. That was amazing never in a million years could that happen again.

Any suggestion on getting these things done cheaply? Buying these activities from the cruise ship can be really expensive. Some activities are not even offered by the Cruise. We have overnight cruise trip in Nassau in Dec 2017
@Donsfamilyvacations
7 жыл бұрын
you might want to search the port for tours on google. buying away from the ship is often much cheaper but make sure you make enough time to get back to the ship on time. when your on a shore trip though the cruise line they wait for you if you book from the tour guys themselves they won't wait long

Captive animal excursions are horrid - it isn’t a perspective but a fact. Participating in these is so selfish, it just proves that the humans are the worst animals on the planet. Paying for these simply give money to animal abusers. I don’t know how it’s good for children to teach them to be selfish and think only of themselves and not innocent, vulnerable living things. 🤨
