If you ever wander in The States into a typical large or small grocery store you'd be surprised how these differs to the Aldi Nord (Trader Joe's in The States) and Aldi Sud (just Aldi in The States) you're accustomed to. Now in more and more States, cities and towns there are laws that forces you to pay for a plastic bag (U$0.10 in many places like in Puerto Rico, where I live). BTW, Trader Joe's is also considered "different" (they seem like a mix of both Aldi and Whole Foods) from both Aldi and the rest of the market over here...

Since many of their processes seem like a measure to cope with inconsiderate or destructive customer behavior, I don't feel inconveniences at all. 😉 The real benefits: 1. The carts aren't all damaged and scattered all over the lot. 2. I can control how my bags are packed; one bag doesn't weigh 70lb and another 2lb. And, nothing gets crushed. 3. BYOBag is ecologically responsible. (In my state, cheap plastic grocery bags are banned, anyway) 4 The corner cutting doesn't come at a cost to the staff. They are actually paid at a higher rate than other local grocery stores. 5. I don't have to pay 50-100% more just for a brand label. There are only a few things I have to pick up elsewhere. 6. The aisle with seasonal and temp items is fun. Bonus: the Choceur chocolate is phenomenal. The sugar content is tailored to American tastes, but it's still delicious.

You don't even need a bag for most of the time at Aldi, Save-a-Lot, or Gordon's(GFS stores), because they pretty much want to reuse the cardboard boxes that the products come in. This saves for you and them money. you don't have to buy a bag, and for them it save on cost of having to bale the cardboard and pay someone to pick it up. It's also more green since the cardboard is used more than once, and much easier to be recycled than plastic bags(91% of cardboard is recycled).

They don't have everything but my wife goes there for meat and fruit as well as a wide selection of low carb products. Then she goes to other stores, usually Wegman's and Shop-right or even Walmart. All these regulations just tells me Aldi doesn't really want my business. I would rather pay a higher price elsewhere just for world class A+ service.

um, leaving a cart behind at any store will cause more work and probably alot of waste, ie, parishables left for who knows how long.. pet peve at a wm, people leaving empty carts at the self check.. Those checkers that you say are just standing around are actually in charge of 3-8, sometimes 14 registers! we are not standing around doing nothing. so please, at least take your cart back!

You want to save money don’t you and get more bang for your buck! Well, then, don’t complain! Others that shop there have no complaints about shopping there and have no problem with this concept, the only person whose complaining about it is you because, it doesn’t seem convenient enough for you!

Hmmm, than if you never been there you have no room to talk! They are going understaff? That sentence makes no sense, no one ever says they are going understaff! It would be they are under staffed, duh! But, again if you watch the video did you not grasp it’s a business model! They been here in the US since, the mid 80s and, if you buy that high pricy imported brands at other stores you’ll pay a fortune for it. If you go to Aldi’s a lot of their brands come directly from Germany and, you can buy imported wines, beers, cheese, nuts and chocolates and even coffee for a much cheaper price. Do your research and educate yourself, you might decide it isn’t as bad as you seem to think it is. Your just assuming things you don’t know. Besides no one is complaining about these supposed things but, you!

I never use quarters I bring a crowbar to get a cart works great. one time the manager caught me in the act and threaten me with vandalism I told him to mind your own business or you will wear this crowbar like a bowtie around your neck. he decided to walk away. Without saying anything. I got the cart for free and left it at the home depot parking spot lot 10 blocks away..

@@BabbleTop I have visited four different ALDI stores on opening day and on each occasion I found the produce rotting --- on grand opening day, mind you --- on the display counters. If the store managers have no more pride than to display moldy oranges and slimy lettuce. and this happens at four different stores ON GRAND OPENING DAY a smart shopper might recognize a pattern. If that quality appeals to you, RIGHT ON.

Absolutely. I have been disappointed on my every visit to ALDI stores. There are better choices with better track records within walking distance (if I feel like walking) of my place of residence. Even Wally-World, a couple of miles away, has better fresh produce than I have seen at ALDI, and a wide selection of well-known brand canned and packaged goods. Thanks just the same, ALDI just isn't worth the trip or the trouble.

They should play this in every Aldi foyer for customers. How hard is it to keep a quarter on you if you regularly shop at Aldi? How about going inside and asking to be lent a quarter until you are done shopping? Is it too much to ask that if you’re buying $100 worth of groceries that you use a cart, so you can bag said groceries, instead of loading 3 full bags of groceries on the belt without taking your items out of the bag? It isn’t easy to scan items that are in a bag.
