I swear my postpartum nurse with my oldest was an angel straight from heaven! She came in the room after like hour 3 of my inlaws visiting and must have seen the misery in my face, and she told them they needed to leave, cause baby needed to eat and I needed rest. When my MIL said she'd stay I could feed him with her there the nurse told her she would leave or be escorted by security. I could have hugged her right then!

I gave birth to my first child 3 weeks ago. my l&d nurses were saints during labor, delivery, and postpartum! They helped me through some very undignifying moments, especially in my postpartum room.. I had stood up and leaked all over the place through my diaper. I couldn't stop myself and tried walking to the bathroom. I was peeing (and bleeding) all over the floor and I felt so disgusting and I couldn't even bend down to clean it up. I wanted to just cry. My nurse was so sweet and reassuring through the whole thing. She helped clean me up constantly, hooked me up with stool softener, pain medication, and instant ice packs (which were an invaluable part of my initial healing process). You guys are the real MVPs!!

By my 3rd baby I did both of accepting help (and even asking immediate family for help) by bringing a meal when we got home but also specifically asking family to not come to the hospital and wait until we were home for a couple days to meet baby. That may seem harsh to people but the thought of people visiting gave me extreme anxiety my entire pregnancy. I hated it when I had my first 2, it didnt allow me to sleep when I needed because we had so much company, it made me uncomfortable to try to breastfeed when it was painful and I was trying to figure it out and honestly didnt wear much of a bra the first 2 weeks, and also the hormonal changes and mama bear kicked in and I felt so mad when family, especially step parents, would hold my newborn for such a long time and not hand them back right away because I felt like my baby belonged with me. That was the best decision i made!! The best postpartum period (mentally) I've ever had. I was able to heal, rest, and enjoy that time with my new baby, my other 2 kids, and my husband. Also, I accepted help via when people stopped by (mainly my mom or MIL) theyd do my dishes or offer to do my laundry, or help fold, or my MIL even offered robpock up our dirty laundry and drop it off folded and clean since it was during the no visit times. Also, we got a few meals dropped off to us by family, the sweetest was once again my MIL who came ghe first day we were home with a hot meal and stopped by for less than 5 minutes to see the kids and left to give us our privacy. Some family got offended by my choice, but in the end I was so glad I did, taking care of yourself helps your baby!

I just had my baby boy on Thursday my epidural failed twice the anesthesiologist was so apologetic he said it had never happened to him before and he checked up on us as often as he could I could tell he really felt bad and I assured him it wasn't his fault and thankfully I originally planned on a natural birth so I had some tips and tricks stored in the back of my head. When it came time for me to push I gave it my all I only pushed for 25 minutes! I did unfortunately need an episiotomy and I still ended up tearing more to a 4th degree tear. Afterwards I was bleeding quite heavily and passing very large clots softball to frisbee sized clots but my nurse was absolutely amazing she remained so calm I didn't even know that anything was wrong! She was an absolute angel, so professional yet caring at the same time I couldn't thank everyone at the hospital enough for the care that I received. Although things didn't go as planned and I did end up with a severe tear I still left the hospital being proud and happy with my birth experience!

Wow! Congratulations. !! I had twins in 2015 too. They were my 1st. Baby A was breech and baby B was head down. I had a vaginal birth in a hospital. The most important thing is getting a team of Obgyn and midwives that support you,are well informed and believe in your ability to have your babies. Get a doula too. I pray you have a safe delivery ❤❤❤❤

After my c section with my twins, I bled a Lot , and was in recovery for over 12hrs. About an hour later, at 6am, I had to pee and just Went. My nurse came in as I was getting back into bed and was Pissed! I really didn't know that I had to call her, she never told me. I'll spread the word now though. N the "cocktail " worked after my back surgery and I hadn't gone in 6 days. 😅👍🏾

Thank you so much for videos like this! My mum had inward nipples and got tiny "plastic nipples" to breastfeed me and she bleed really bad for 5 weeks before she had to give up. It is so important to let people know that not everyone can follow the "normal" step. I look forward for future videos from you!

I'm curious about how often tearing occurs and when it does, does it heal back to normal?
@thesaintmustwalkalone708
5 жыл бұрын
It is actually not uncommon in hospitals because of epidurals. Depending upon mom and how well the epidural took, it can be hard to feel how you are pushing, which puts you at a higher risk for a tear. Also, coming too fast can put you at a high risk. With my first child, I had a 4th degree laceration... (tmi... Hole to hole)!!! It was about two weeks to recover and much worse than natural labor itself. Mine was due to too much epidural. I will say I have went on to continue 3 more vaginal deliveries (some think you must have a c-section after a 4th degree tear). There is a huge difference from 2nd degree and 4th degree tears in my experience. Just make sure you are getting the right amount of epidural... You still want to feel to push, just not too painful... And make sure you push when your body says... Dont rush.
@thesaintmustwalkalone708

Once you tear, you are never "normal", but you do heal and it is somewhat close to the same as I was before.
@ascs4944
5 жыл бұрын
Everyone's experience is different. I do know statistically if you have an epidural and/or have a fast delivery it can increase your chances of tearing. My mother told me something really great prior to my birth which was: if you can have lots of little tears vs one large one, the smaller tears will heal more quickly and evenly than larger ones (and if you can tear vs episiotomy, tear. Since its harder to evenly match up a straight cut vs a jagged tear. Think like puzzles pieces) . So don't rush the delivery. If you give it time the baby's head should stretch the tissue slowly and prevent less/larger tears. Your tears should heal just fine but your vagina will never be what it was prior to birth. And that doesn't have to be a bad thing. The changes will become your new "normal". That being said it you have large tears and/or episiotomy and the scars affect you negatively after you've healed i.e. pain during sex, etc definitely talk to your doctor.
@lindseymitchell8455

Hey, I just to say that I had severe third degree tearing and got internal and external stitches and I’m happy to say that everything healed up nicely and went back to normal! Don’t worry about tearing, having a baby is painful but so worth it and your downstairs area will heal up perfect ☺️
