@@bloxsy_ Yeah Dinosaur Jr are such a tight 3 piece it's almost impossible to separate them. Lou's bass simultaneously fills the bass low end role, as well as the mid range rhythm guitar role. Often supporting and harmonizing J's high end, kinda shrill sounding, twangy, often textural, guitar playing, to really push parts and give J's guitar a lot of body and accentuated forcefulness, while still grooving with the drums, or even by itself, enough to give J's riffing a lot of structure it'd otherwise be missing. The glue that holds it all together. and that's saying nothing of Murph's drumming and how he interacts with the rest of the band. It's such an interesting dynamic that they really perfected on YLAOM IMO.

Weird fun factoid: there are no palm mutes where it sounds like them until... songs from the last 10 years or so? J said in a semi-recent interview he only learned how to actually do palm mutes a few years ago, having always heard of them but never really knowing what it meant! So the Mountain Man chuggy mutes are actually left hand mutes, for example. I spent wayyyy too much time tabbing Dino songs when I first got into them about 15 years ago - for some reason I also did Said The People (with all solos!) which I started to regret quickly soon in, but it's so good 😁
