1408 is absolutely phenomenal (the theatrical version that ends with the tape being played, anyway- the director's cut ending with the cheap jump scare is crap). Honestly other than The Shining I'd say it's the best ever film based on a Stephen King story, I never get tired of watching it.

I feel like The Others is a film that is incredibly underrated. Although it had great reviews, people don't seem to talk about it much. Yes, it isn't that scary as far as horror films go, but it is incredibly intriguing throughout. From the unsettling atmosphere to the incredible performances of Nicole Kidman and the children and of course the ending is spectacular. It's just a great horror film that I think slipped through the cracks a bit.

The murder of Sylvia Likens is one of the most horrifying stories I've ever heard. Quite honestly, the woman who killed her should have been put to death. I don't know how anyone could do what she did to another person.
@abebuckingham8198
4 жыл бұрын
When I look up "true" horror I expect to see the film has portrayed a highly sensationalized version of the crime to attract viewers. To see that exactly the opposite was the case with the murder of Sylvia Likens was truly chilling, a crime so heinous the censor would never allow it to be depicted accurately in film. So many people ignored her pleas for help, multiple children were accomplices, the scale of the torture and the manner of death, unforgettable.

One night she's killed by an unknown serial killer playing his trade in the area. The next morning she awakes to do it all over again. Sound familiar? It's Happy Death Day without the humor, and it's amazing. The tension convention it becomes is so palpable you can almost taste it. The twist comes at the end where... Well, I won't spoil it for you. Rather than white knuckle horror like The Devils with Vanessa Redgrave (the version I saw in the seventies was so intense I felt like I had been thru torture after watching it. I don't know how many people walked out but some must have. Later versions were cut severely to the point where it was no longer an intense experience as it needed to be for the subject matter.
