More interesting facts is that Nova Scotia is the worst place to buy real estate since most of its Crown Land is being sold to foreign investors, and the regular investment opportunities are lost to zoning laws for it's residents. Foreign Investors meaning why Crescent Beach was sold to an Egyptian investor for one interesting fact. Most residents are "seasonal" workers, and most winter jobs are restricted to the Government Employee sector. No one sells houses in Winter, Chris. The price of home heating costs and fuel in Nova Scotia has become a fact that people are not on par with other provinces, but those coming from the "West" can afford a house, but can't afford food, fuel, and taxes. Fun fact, most schools are public, and that means there is no regard to parental decisions if Social Services are involved, for "any" reason that a school employee wishes to raise a "red flag". Fun fact, most public transportation is only city oriented, and no rural area access to busses is available, unless you count the underfunded rural access/disability busses which do not count as public transportation. Fun fact, power outages are a common thing. Fun fact, home inspections are on par with the local home inspector who does the job, Buddy and his dude from down the street. (Believe me, I'd challenge that in an instant when potential home buyers want a "is this wood safe" as opposed to "is this wood replaced within the last 5 years"...wood rot is horrible in NS.) Fun fact, trades people such as carpenters and electricians charge through the roof, and have a very long wait list due to red tape. Fun fact, getting permits to build or renovate fall under both Provincial and County laws/bylaws....beware and learn where you want to live. Fun fact, if you buy property anywhere in NS, you have to build above the "sea level" of your property. Fun fact, any fence above 4 feet has to have a permit. Fun fact...............if you want to move in with your nagging parents again and pay through the nose for everything, and live in a Province of Karen's...then NS is the perfect place for you.
