Jese was an absolute gem for Real Madrid as well. He was scoring against Barca and was consistently playing in the CL as well. But a horror tackle against Schalke in 2014 literally changed him. He has not even had a single decent season since then, become a meme at PSG and more successful as musician rather than a football player! It is sad.

Joe Cole? Pablo Aimar? Juan Mata? Were you high when you wrote this? Joe Cole was great for Chelsea winning the Premier League 3 times FA Cup 2 times aswell as the League Cup and also made a Champions League final. Pablo Aimar was a big part of a Valencia team that won La Liga twice the UEFA Super Cup and UEFA Cup also made it to a Champions League final. Juan Mata was brilliant for Valencia and Chelsea for many years and won the Champions League Europa League and FA Cup. The only logical thing you could say is they all could of been better but you can say that for plenty of people these three were still good players with successful careers. Mata is probably the one you could argue the most but that's only after he joined United and that wasn't his fault anyway he was virtually always played out of position.

@DTM93
3 жыл бұрын
@@araidhzkun I'm aware and i still disagree with putting them on your list because they were still good or great players in spells and achieved. That's why i also stated you could say it for alot of players. (Didn't reach their full potential) When a player fails to live up to their potential it means players who did virtually nothing in the game or they just completely threw their talents away. That's what failed to live up to potential means to me atleast and that could be through bad attitude, injury, lack of determination and so on. That doesn't mean because Cole, Aimar and Mata didn't quite fill the shoes of Maradona, Ronaldo, Zidane and other greats they've failed to live up to it. If for example Cole or Aimar were more consistent with their form they probably would of been held in higher regard i don't think you can knock their talents because it was there. Just for kicks though because that is football in a nutshell you could say Ronaldinho who is an obvious great and legend of the game if he were more consistent he'd be held in higher regard as people generally only remember him for two years of his career. Does that mean he didn't fufill his potential though? Hell no his talents were clear. So to sum it up i do think people give players unfair judging and really they should look at consistency rather than pointing at their potential and also look at success aswell as trophies what they did in the game when judging if they lived up to potential or not.

Asensio got injured in a preseason game in 2019. He was promising in 16/17 and great in 17/18, but after Ronaldo left and Real Madrid looked to Asensio to be their new star man in the 2018/19 season, he flopped. It was after that season he got injured, which made him miss most of the games in the 19/20 season. So he was bad before the injury and he’s been bad after the injury. The only difference is that he lost his speed due to the injury, which is why Ancelotti is now playing him as a central midfielder instead of on the wing.

@@niallowens6312 He was the most highly rated Portuguese player at a time which included Ronaldo. And Ronaldo agreed. He used to rave about him all the time saying he is better than him. I'd say he was more hyped than Mastour.

@@SonnyK248 that’s fair, I must have forgotten about it. Mastour got a lot of attention purely because his videos were more easily accessible with social media and KZitem at that point.

@@niallowens6312 The crazy thing about Mastour is that he's still quite young. I think he's about 24. He did get famous from KZitem. But he looked outstanding in those videos. His close control and movement were off the charts. I think his agents messed him around and he never really had a chance to develop. Dembele from Celtic is another player who needs to do something this season or he could fall into the same category as these three.

@@SonnyK248 mastour failed heavily in serie b and even c, I’d be very surprised if he ever became a top flight player but as you say he is only 24.

I think Bojan should get a shout as well. I used ti remember that he was somewhat compared to messi in term of talent and stature, and his early days in Barcelona was pretty good as well.

He shouldn't have joined Chelsea. They are a team snapping up loads of young talent just for them to rot later on.
