Ginos' also sold Kentucky Fried Chicken for a period of time. They opened a "Gino's Steak House" in northern Delaware which became Rustler, was sold to Marriott iirc and then became Sizzler. Gino's stumbled with their "Hero Burger", too. It was thinner and dry compared to the Sirloiner and the Giant. They tried a revival around 2010 as "Gino's Burgers and Chicken", but the one here in KOP closed after a short time.

Not sure I understand this video. You praise a lot of these chains, yet call them "Worst" and say "That no one misses" them? The only part of your title that is completely true is that they failed. The majority of them failed because of poor management or a bad business model. Take Steak & Ale, for example. They were quite popular. However, they, as you point out, served a lot of food for a low price. In the end, it was an unsustainable business model. It doesn't matter how many customers you serve if you're losing money.

It's a shame Gino's didn't make it. It seemed like a very good chain. As for Pumper Nic, had they changed their logo earlier to not resemble Burger King's logo so much, they likely wouldn't have had as many problems. But Burger Chef, Red Barn, and Howard Johnson's are the three defunct chains I REALLY wish could've stayed open. From the unique characters of the chains, whether it be Burger Chef's monster characters, Red Barn's Muppet-like Hungries, or Howard Johnson's nursery rhyme themed characters, these chains had attention to detail and theming. I've heard that all three chains had good food, but sadly, as a 2000s kid, I never got to try ANY of them. Suggestion for future video: Top Ten Facts About The California Raisins? You could talk about how they won an EMMY for their first special: Meet The Raisins, and how the Raisins also got their own Saturday Morning Cartoon. You could also talk about Will Vinton and his other mascot creations like The Noid and the M&Ms Spokescandies in the Top Ten Facts About The California Raisins video.

In 1977 my sister pulled her little VW Dasher out of the driveway of our home in PA, headed down to Florida for college. Dad and 10-year-old-me followed in the family wagon with the rest of her belongings. One thing I remembered about the trip was eating at a fast-food place in Tallahassee called WUV's. They had great burgers, skin-on fries, good onion rings, and a DELICIOUS fruit drink made of passion fruit and pineapple... and if memory serves with bits of actual fruit in it. The employees wore purple uniforms and the color dominated the restaurant's theme. I read years later online that they folded in 1981 and locations were as far-flung as Long Island. Shame, because it would have made a nice addition to the national FF landscape. Another place I remember on our trips down to Florida in the 80s was Po' Folks, which offered traditional southern-style family fare. I thought it had gone out of business... and reading about Burt Reynolds losing millions after investing in the company ... but a few years ago I saw one in St. Petersburg and apparently a few locations still exist in Florida.
@BabbleTop
8 ай бұрын
@yossarian6799 It sounds like WUV's left a lasting impression on you with its distinctive purple theme and delicious offerings. It's unfortunate when beloved establishments like that close down. As for Po' Folks, it's interesting that you've seen a few locations still operating in Florida. The restaurant chain did indeed face financial troubles, and Burt Reynolds' investment didn't pan out as expected. The majority of Po' Folks locations did close down, but it seems like some managed to survive, perhaps through local ownership or other factors.

I saw in the video a clip of a popular restaurant chain that was exclusive to Zellers department stores here in Canada. It had great food from breakfast to burgers all day! However sadly it's long gone along with the department stores themselves. There are however small Zellers sections in some Hudson Bay stores but without it's iconic eatery. However, for those looking for a taste of nostalgia,there are some pop up food trucks that offer some of the tasty fare that it used to offer such as the the Big Z burger.

Gino's and Ameche's were an outgrowth of the Baltimore Colts winning the NFL championship over the New York Giants. Hamburgers were "pricy" at $0.15 for regular hamburgers. The Gino's locations were purchased by both Hardee's and Kentucky Fried Chicken. They reemerged as Gino's and are making a resurgence in the Baltimore area. Chi-Chi’s, York PA, where I took my fiancé after I bought her diamond at Tommy Van Scoy, Park City Mall, Lancaster PA in 1994. Now before you think “cheapskate”, I seldom pick where we eat because I don’t care where. At that time she was a fast food junkie and decided that was a step up for this occasion. Once, I took her to a place, in ‘89, that was very nice, upscale. We had prime rib all the trimmings, drinks, etc. Remember, 1989, the bill was over $60, she said it was nice, much appreciated but ridiculous to spend that much money. At age 37, she had never been to a place so expensive and nice. After that, she picks (still) where we eat (no fast food anymore) I’m happy with a ham sandwich or a burger and sweet tea while standing at the sink so….. I don’t care.
