I was trying to remember which came first. I think the golf caddy gimmick came first (2005) until Eddie Guerrero passed away and Chavo gave up the Kerwin White character. The Spirit Squad came shortly after that, I believe.

Actually Sami doesn't belong here. He definitely had a good debut but since the show was in Canada, if played a big reason for the pop. I think most were still excited when he returned in 2016. Even then, I liked his underdog rivalry with Braun at raw as it elevated both men's careers without needing a title. What ruined him was the heel turn and the awful feud with lashley.

Sami’s character work and charisma as well as the fact he can have a banger of a match with anyone has put him high in Vince’s good books, only wrestlers he trusts a lot get celebrity matches. His character is one of the best in the whole company and I genuinely think he’s one of the best all rounders

Look, I can forgive Shockmaster. It wasn't his fault someone messed up the board he was supposed to walk through, at least that's what I've heard. But there is no way, no damn way I can forgive Mike Bennett going along with taking Maria's last name. When I first saw that, there was no question it was dead in the water no matter how solid Bennett was in the ring.

Many of the debuts are not the wrestlers fault - creative sometimes sucks in WWE. EC3 is very talented - WWE main roster never gave him a chance. Chances are he probably pitched a new direction to Vince, and was shut down. He is now proving that main character in TNA.

Exactly like they said^^^. Like, they could have acknowledged his past and then framed it as though he's dilusional: thinks he's a Japanese warrior. You can have promos with him and someone playing the 'straight man' trying to convince him that he's not (the promos write themselves). But that would've meant it had to start as a comic act...but then if it got over, they could just roll back the dillusional part and people would go with it. It's like if they introduced The Hurricane as a serious character and then got mad that it didn't get over...like what's with the cartoon gimmicks, is it 1993?

@@BryWithAWhy They acknowledge it...or at least referenced it. Cole said he was a "former WWE star who went to Japan and became an International Superstar" in his debut. When Bray Wyatt debuted, people were chanting "Husky Harris" for awhile, but WWE kept with it and eventually those chants faded just as it could've here, but they gave it FOUR WEEKS before neutering him.

The most aggravating thing about Tensai was that WWE saw it coming. The intro promos even made a point that this was a former WWE star who had made it big in Japan and was now coming back. And yet once he debuted, they were somehow caught flatfooted when the fans recognized that he was, indeed, a former WWE star--they didn't acknowledge it, they didn't work it into the story, they just let the whole thing fall flat. What a mess.

I never understood why the Ascension's fall was a surprise to many people. When I was watching their NXT matches, they defeated their opponents in less than a minute. They did absolutely nothing during their matches. I wasn't surprised at all when they got called up and nothing happened.

Here's the thing tho. Sami is kinda of getting a retool right now right? He's in a sizable feud for the Intercontinental Championship and is very good on the mic. If anything he should be on a list of talent that wwe doesn't know how to use.

the only way Gareth videos are tolerable is on 2x speed. his tempo on normal is so annoying. why does everything sound sarcastic and the end of every sentence is drawn out.

I would've put Mike Kanellis higher if only because he was TWO horrible debuts in a row if you include his debut in Impact after weeks of promos for "The Miracle" were followed up with Mike entering the ring looking like a Florida retiree.
