This is my ten year guitar playing progress! Let's see what I improved through the years, what I struggled with and much more. Maybe it can give you some inspiration on how to get better yourself! =) You will find several mistakes I've made, several bands I've played together with, it's overwhelming how fast all these years passed by! And I still cannot believe what you can achieve in such a period of time. So many videos have been personal throwbacks for me... Very emotional stuff, haha! So I really hope you have fun with this 10 Year Progress video! SUPPORT MY BAND! www.startnext.com/en/oversense-album-release-2021

@@GenOceanWolf_tWo_TookieTaliban Blocked for lying yourself. You cannot hide the truth. And if I just ask people "hey, please rather compliment my guitar playing, not my body parts" what is so hard to understand and to RESPECT that I don't want to hear that stuff? You might not have said OMG those legs. But "I love your legs" which basically has the same meaning and message behind it. Calling me a liar for adding the "OMG" is childish and distracts from YOU having issues with respecting someone's opinion. Grow up man! It's getting annoying.

When I saw your video it really made me great inspiration and a desire to continue. I'm 46, and I do not have that much time to practice, but when I see your riffs, I make an effort and manage to play some simple riffs( porrly....) and it is worth all the effort and makes me smile. Here you go mate, I've been playing for over 30 years do this Go to the Guitar Grimoire Series by Adam kadman Now.. Your'e lucky , you have it on you tube for free, I had to buy this shit back in the day for like $400 when i was broke , for the entire set isn't the internet amazing LOL These are the same videos that were once books and then they converted them to VHS then To DVD I was ok, Until i came across this stuff, after this .... You just learn shit BUT THERE'S A CATCH so first Go here step 1 - Learn Scales and Modes kzitem.info/news/bejne/rHmZuHtmknuki3o&ab_channel=BenjaminHamilton Step 2 . Chords kzitem.info/news/bejne/t3itvX6poqOHjGk&ab_channel=BenjaminHamilton Step 3 - Progressions and Improv kzitem.info/news/bejne/qnyZnZOFcJyFoqQ&ab_channel=BenjaminHamilton Now for the entire thing, IT'S VERY USEFUL TO ACTUALLY BUY THIS BOOK The Guitar chord Encyclopedia, it's fucking amazing www.amazon.com/Guitar-Grimoire-Chord-Encyclopedia/dp/0825830540 or you can try finding a free pdf download of it but honestly , in my opinion, having the book in front of you is so so much better and your'e not realistically going to print off the entire fucking PDF, if so, It's cheaper to buy the book Your'e welcome NOW GO AND BECOME A GUITAR GOD Just remember this... it's one thing to practice it's another thing to PRACTICE PROPERLY this book series shows you how to do it properly You don't really need a guitar coach, it's not necessary. it was necessary back in the day when we didn't have you tube, someone to sit you down and show you the parts of the guitar Good Posture Where to put your fingers how to strum and pick Scales, Chords, Progressions etc etc also to gain speed, PRACTICE REALLY SLOWLY FIRST AND GET THE TECHNIQUE DOWN Your body will tell you when it's ready to speed up, Just play slow until it gets boring as fuck and then your body will say "Ok .. can we go a bit fucking faster now" and that's how you get fast

Another big disadvantage for me are my tiny hands. I play some stuff a lot different than other people. Also what I discovered: It highly depends on the guitar if I can do bendings/vibrato. Some fretboards are way too big. Also: So many people told me I have to play on .10 strings. This might have been the biggest progress crusher. After switching to .9 strings again when I gave up after 3-4 years playing on .10 strings, my progress was there again.
@SketchEtcher
3 жыл бұрын
@@JassyPabst All of the best guitarists seem to have small hands. As I drummer I never understood why. But now that I have taken up the guitar seriously (as of six months ago anyways), I see that having small hands probably helps your muting technique because the standard fretboard width is made for small hands. I have big hands, so I think my index finger, for example doesn’t lay as flat along the other strings. If I get good enough at some point maybe I’ll build a custom guitar with a wider neck to see if my big hands play cleaner on it...

@@trillrifaxegrindor4411 not true. It's actually what you're practicing and how you're going about it. I knew dudes that had only been playing for a year and half and could sweep and do all sorts of crazy shit. This band I tried out the lead guitar dude could go from Jazz to Punk to Metal and anything else. Only a year and a half. At the time I had been playing for about five years and the friend I brought with me had been playing for around ten years. But in all reality I was a bit farther along than he was. And this guy was way beyond both what we could do. I mean the big thing is you can learn to do something but there's always easier ways to go about something. So you learn to play one way and someone shows you how to hold the neck a little different or how to position your fretting fingers when you do fret and suddenly somethings a little easier to do than what you learned previously. Or say a different way of holding the pick. Overall a big problem some people have is focusing on so many techniques at once instead of perfecting each before moving to another. Also just wanting to do things super quick thinking they can learn it and then have it. A big thing is the need for breaks. You have to think of yourself as an athlete doing stretching of your hand muscles prior to exercise. And with breaks it gives your brain and hand a chance to recoup and when you come back after a day or so you'll be a bit stronger and things sometimes work quicker than when you tried getting it the day or so before. You'll also at times reach a slight stagnant area if you go everyday and so forth. Taking a break allows you to come back and usually things will have a fresh sense and feel to it. The biggest thing is finding what works for you. Not going for what you see others doing and thinking it will work for you and forcing that. Certain techniques will work and others won't. It's best to take whatever you're interested and adapting it in such a way that works for you.

I haven't even started my practicing yet because I'm busy with other stuff but when my devil girl guitar gets here that'll definitely motivate me to finally start and I pray I can get half as good as you in the year's because your great and I've been looking at your vids for a good while.
