Love to see a post harvest round up video. The good bad the ugly. Winter projects to dig into the ugly items to get them back and ready for next season. We have seen you try some things, desires to try some other items like still pending like cattle/contract turkey barns, equipment trade outs, tiling/ditching projects, grain leg, drier, chances for new rented, share cropped or purchase of additional land, wheat looks to be out of rotation unless wheat prices increase etc.. Do you project 2024 to be tighter grain price year?

What I like about wheat is ability to lime, manure & fertilize during dry & not so busy months. What I love about wheat is it gives us a window to plant fall oats (with some radishes) that we graze & greenchop. Cattle really do well on fall oats, calves really gain weight & mama cows gain weight heading into winter at a time when pastures are dried up. Without fall oats we are busy with corn & beans & hauling hay to keep cattle fed. With oats we don’t feed any real amount of hay until Jan which makes our lives much more enjoyable.

I haven’t combined wheat in years because as you said, unless the price is right it isn’t worth it. I still plant it, graze some and cover crop everything else. If it’s really good and I have the time I’ll cut and bale some.

When you can raise 80 bu wheat and 50 bushel beans it's as profitable if not more than 240 bushel corn

We stopped planting wheat for the same reason . It just wasn't worth it . Wear and tear on the equipment just couldn't see its worth .

We plant wheat on lighter ground works very well for us, good roi, had some good beans and poor beans wheat was all good except where did got them. Sold straw as well. I think milo qould be great for some of your ground. I also have a good market for wheat $1.15 to 1.30 over nearby elevator and will take wheat at 21% shrink only big help end user needs good wheat
