I saw Doyle once in the Bellagio. He was rolling down the long hallway on the way out late night. Nobody around but me and him. Looked him dead in the eye, he smiled and gave me a head nod, I smiled back (fanboying on the inside), and he kept on rolling. I’ll never forget that day. Better interaction than any picture or story I could have ever told him. Sometimes less is more and sometimes it pays to respect people’s time and energy.

I remembered something about like this with Ava Duverney at a big film festival. She was surrounded by people so i didn't say anything. I tweeted about seeing her and at the festival and how it felt. Daniel you are my favorite poker player by far. You got me into poker. You can’t use the excuse of you being an introvert when you are vlogging your brand and your life everyday. If you don’t want to do it don’t do it. If you were up money instead of down you would be happy and not upset with yourself. Stay your course like you always do and you will come out and win a few big tournaments this WSOP. I will continue to watch and hope you do well and win because I respect you and am a big fan. There are a lot of people who would wish to have your life and lifestyle don’t take that for granted or make excuses. If you were cashing and winning this wouldn’t be a thought.

@ the 14:00 or so, I appreciate the fold here for a funny reason: it shows you using not just the numbers, but also using your feelings and impressions based on the player. Yes, massive polarizing bet, and yes, it could go either way - great hand or trash. My thought was sort of along the lines of if he is willing to risk 1:1 with implied 2:1 if you call means that he is confident either that he has a good enough hand to beat you, or that you have a weak enough hand not to look him up, as your 2:1 actual if you call isn't really worth it. So yeah, at your best when you use the knowledge and the feel to know when it's better to fight some other time.

Totally agree with Dnegs on the energy drain that comes with being peoples hero. What +80% of people struggle to understand, is that the heroes we hold up on a pedestal are just normal people, like you and I. Having that +80% come up to you constantly to tell their stories definitely take its toll, both emotionally and energy. In fact, Opera of all people, now has a policy for all events she does, that prevents people from telling her their stories, because of the emotional and energy drain it has on her.

I have never understood why people would think any celebrity from any vocation would want to listen to their little story, especially when you are in the middle of a multi-week grind like the WSOP. A selfie only takes a second, but to take up someone's time with some BS story is something I could never put up with. Do you not think, as you were eluding too, that it drains you, and in the long run over the WSOP it will cumulative and actually hurting your chances to play solid? Good luck this year in the WSOP. Hand breakdown #3: That's a hard one! I could guess AceSix or 65 since it was just a call preflop. Some players just love to add max pressure. Did the check/raise mean a set? Maybe and maybe not? A tricky player would smooth call in that position or an aggro player would raise with ACE six or 65 or 67. In those situations, I go with my gut. Sometimes that 6th sense is on target sometimes not... I have made plenty of lay downs to that max pressure, even when I felt it was wrong.

With the JT hand, what're you getting value from? Can he really have a worse T besides sometimes T8 or T9 of spades/hearts and then he's likely not even calling those every time. He called turn with a player left behind - I bet he just folds those plenty of the time and puts you on not a ton of bluffs leading into two other players. 88 and 99 sometimes maybe, but also only partials if ever. How I thought about hand breakdown #1: UTG min raises 2x which can be anything except AK/AQ suited (I really believe AK/AQ suited is played stronger by most players including Mikita) in this position because it doesn't want stragglers. So, again, I think range is different even low pairs. Flop bet is 7k? A continuation bet is made by almost everyone including AI bots. So, that bet means ZERO information! You have to raise here to look him up for an ace! You need to pay for information! Make it at least 2800 or close to 3k+. That screams I got the ace and slows down the action from a low pair looking to set mine. Your check call shows enough weakness for an overbet on the turn. Then, hand #2: I would bet the FLOP for info. A floater might float here but only CO is in position to do so. I would bet about 25k into a 90k pot. Obviously, a flush draw and Ace 7 or any other Ten would call (maybe even some low pairs and only cut-off could float here). Then comes the turn with only you and Biao (figuratively speaking if it went down like that). Turn is 3rd diamond. He's NOT floating since the FLOP action wouldn't be right to do so out of position. So, a check is warranted. He would probably elect to bet against a turn check. Or if a check was made then check/check to river and less chips lost. But top pair played here is not as cautious as your top pair in hand #1. Oops-O-Meter worthy since a thought of, "Who's calling 60k into 90k in a middle position with 3 players on a 3x diamonds board?" Not a Ten 8 or less. Who are you beating? And, most importantly... what's beating you? A whole lotta stuff.

yeah, i like making small bets on boards where really only top pair or flush draws can call. if daniel does this he can get away from that baio hand. think that tt laydown is tight, but likely correct. heath's holdings are probably any pocket pair and daniel only beats 33, 55, 88, and 99 but loses to 22, 44, 66, 77, and jj+.

I think your whoopsie meter should have 3 categories big whoopsie basket Mid whoopsie basket Small whoopsie basket -also, the J10 river shove into K8dd hand was not as standard / ok as you think. Imo

Hi Daniel, fellow Canadian here. Were you asked or tempted to play in the million dollar Hustler game that they recently had ? Also if you watched any of the action what were your thoughts on the games ?

@dnegs, the hand w/ Ben Heath was interesting. I want to say that post flop action felt like JJ or QQ but that doesnt make sense preflop IMO. Seems like UTG+2 would 3-bet with those 2 hands. Regardless, it wasnt a solid enough position to move forward and fold seems like best move. GL

These are very enjoyable. I can appreciate how it would be frustrating to have people coming up to you all the time to talk, take pictures, ect, when you didn't ask for it. What makes it different than running up to a table and talking to another person who is playing poker shoving a camera in their face and start to ask them questions, like Isuldur?

The difference is guys like Blom are not strangers to DN, and vice versa. They are at worst business associates, and often friends.
