It's a hard card to direct hate to right. If you kill, exile, or bounce her the player can always just replay her for the ninjutsu costs which aren't subject to commander tax. A board wipe of the ninjas and changelings seems to be the best way to really stop that deck

I love Adams playstyle here. I myself play Locust god as the commander with Nv-mizzet being in the 99. I got all the same cards, but I also add "Sage of the Falls" into the list of combos as it is a 1 card combo with my commander, with Locust god out, you cast Sage of the falls, and since he is non-human, you draw a card, discarding a card and getting a locust. it is a may ability so you can do this as often as you want. if you have an Edlrazi titan in the deck it is an infinitre loop where you draw and discard your deck over and over and all your locusts kill the table, GG. Note: another card you can play instead of glint-horn buccaner when you have drawn your deck is "firestorm", but only if you have enough targets, which is why playing the locust god is so good, you target yoiur own locusts and your 3 oppenents and kill the table.
@vertical3464
3 жыл бұрын
In the end when Adam was down to 3 and played the buccaneer, I was a bit disappointed to see no other red decks at the table, a lighting bolt in response would've been a super hype play. This was a really fun game to watch, it was nice to see an example of how well budget decks can perform despite their low cost! Although this may not be entirely fair, I think it could be fun to play a game with the winners at each price level, but that does only give you 3 different decks so it could cause an issue.

This was a lot of fun to watch. I'm coming back to it now after having played the Yuriko deck, which now is somewhere around $150. Still not bad. 3 thoughts, love this content in tandem with your other games of full powered decks, the key card in this game was clearly the mystic remora the advantage gained was well worth any cost, lastly the beast within confused me as did the fight over the second mystic remora, when the first one wasn’t fought over. So many resources in that moment additionally feeding nivs hand the whole time, seems like that just doubly helped the niv deck so questioning some of tasigurs choices.
@Train__
3 жыл бұрын
My thoughts about the plays you mentioned (please feel free to correct me!): 1) Beast Within doubled as a way to put a blocker on Niv's board. Niv only plays 7 creatures excluding Niv (6 if you count Drift of Phantasms only for Transmute). Yuriko was gaining easy advantage by attacking there to get triggers, so getting rid of Remora AND putting a blocker to slow down Yuriko was probably the reason. 2) Regarding the fight over Mystic, Yuriko is built to be more proactive than Niv, and is already putting a lot of pressure on the table while the Niv player isn't doing much at the time, so countering the proactive Remora was likely the better play.
@dendecko2246
3 жыл бұрын
@@Train__ In My opinion the beast within can be done on the yuriko turn with that thought in mind. then you force niv to decide to waste the mana and you get to deliver a blocker during attacks. On the mystic it was being played by the narumeha player not the yuriko player.

Sick video, loving the budget alternatives that are still extremely strong. It can be hard to be competitive on a budget. Great video once again, but a few things I would like to point out: 1. Countering the second fish was probably really not the right play and seemed a bit weird, because it not only fed Adam even more, it prevented Ryan to close up to him and Zack. In addition to that, it took resources away from Ryan, that he might have used later against Adam. If 2 people are already way ahead of you, its most of the time the better choice to let the third opponent catch up and let them fight each other. 2. While the premise of the video is cool and I liked the gameplay and video very much, the budget creates a whole lot of problems, because some card get dramatically stronger. Its very unlikely that somebody will ever pay for Mystic Remora or even Rhystic Stury in games where no fast mana is available, which in turn results in upping the power level of those cards a lot. People will tap out more often and without the expensive disruption in form of force of will or force of negation this means that setting up a combo turn is much easier than it should be, which therefore makes commanders like Yuriko worse than they usually are, because they tap out a lot in the first place and rely on free interaction a lot. I know Yuriko still did good in this game tho. So yeah, while it was very entertaining to watch and I would like to see more of that IMO its more of EDH than cEDH.

I had no idea that a lot of these cEDH decks cost $5,000-6,000 and upwards. I can barely grasp the concept of a pod of cEDH players where the cards they're casually shuffling and playing with are so expensive that they'd be a fair trade for the car in my driveway. I love the budget idea, more episodes like this would be cool. Decklists that are multiple thousands of dollars are so far from reality for me that the only way I'd get to play a proper cEDH game like you usually do would be if all 400 cards in the pod were proxies.
