Do not forget that if nuclear warfare occurs, EMPs will knock out the GPS satellites. You need to do this challenge with just a sextant and a Nautical Almanac.

Only electric devices within los (line of site). So results would vary based on altitude of emp. Some satellites would continue to function and orbit over effected areas. Spotty coverage at best.

This is exactly the content I’m here for. I am obsessed with the idea of having a dedicated garden on a sailboat - for nutrients and for visual beauty. I started hydroponic gardening at home in anticipation of having a dedicated space on it for my eventual sailboat. Dan - you’ve got one of the best channels in terms of living on a sailboat. I know you spend a lot of time in the Caribbean, but it would be fun to see you in some colder climates and see how your daily activities adapt for long term living in cooler climates. Awesome vid, mate. I had somewhere to be, but since you just uploaded this, I’m stuck here planning for waterworld with you 😅

Very good point, I have for 3 years of daily requirements of vitamins and minerals. And its the size of an small backpack. D3 with K2, C, B12, Omega 3, Iron, zink, magnesium. Those keep your immune system running 100%. In times of food crisis etc people will get sick weak and die. Not because of less food but because of those vitamins and minerals getting lower and lower and your immune system shutting down. But Fish and meat has all of them already, and seawater 80+ minerals also absorbed by skin by swimming etc. So that would be no problem whit fishing, hunting and sea life . Drinking water with electrolytes is also very important and gets you killed in few days without. Myself have reversed osmose filter and bit Keltic sea salt for electrolytes . I also have an amazing pocket water filter for emergency situations. Katadyn tactical pocket water filter is the one that safes you.

There is only one positive critique and has nothing to do with your adventures but with this video. The background music is too loud and sometimes drowns your voice. There is no need for the music but if you're going to use it it's better to leave it there, in the background. Éxito and fair winds.

You do realise the US submarine experimentation and training warfare center is located in the Caribbean. You also have Russian subs visiting Cuba. Biggest risk is 🦟 born diseases red tides or a virus that jumps species... like the present bird flue H1N5 ... but more aggressive. Ozone radiation colapse ... Or magnetic field reversal... The rest comes down to ELE's Extinction Level Events... Plant fiber and trace vitamins are always a dietry neccesity.

@@Adventureman_Dan interesting. In my mind, I feel like if I were to sell the Atlantic over to Europe, and I spent all that time growing greens only to have it confiscated or destroyed. Upon arrival, it would mean another three months or so to get a new crop rotation going. i’m curious how others do it when they go off grid for extended periods of time. I was looking at one of the Garcia‘s and some people have taken them to Antarctica on six months long expeditions. I was there about a year and a half ago and, there was such strict guidelines to the point that even getting off of the boat required a full scrub down of the body. Super curious how things are like that are handled. Keep us posted! I would love to know more details about your experience if that’s a topic you can cover in future videos.
