Thank you very much for the great tutorial on resin. I am really impressed that you chose to wear your respirator while talking through it. A lot of people don't because they say we wouldn't understand them if they did.I could understand and hear you just fine So they resin without it and I feel that gives people an excuse to not wear one because they saw a video of someone not wearing one. Well done sir and I love all your pieces!!!

Thank you so much for this video!! It was very informative. I have taken a coarse on resin, but even with the coarse I still learned new things from you! I’m very curious to see your drying rack! I love the movable platform you have your coasters on!! Very smart!!!

Thank you and I'm glad I helped! The board is a simple piece of 3 or 6mm MDF and my drying rack is a bakers rack. I've got 2 16x tray racks

Thanks. I do do what you do, but picked up a few tricks. Do you have a good place to buy the clock sets? I especially want some small ones for small clocks and am having trouble getting them. Also - you put in a wee bit of purple to get rid of the yellow (brilliant) but prurple what?? Paint? TLP? This video is terrific

Clock mechanisms are hard to find at a good price so I use Amazon mostly where I can. Ali express is also good. I use a teeny drop of purple alcohol ink. I used boysenberry from Ranger I think last time.

Thanks Mitch. Very informative video. Just wondering in regard to the resin. Does the Stone Coat counter top epoxy you use have a higher heat resistance and hardness than the Stone Coat art coat resin?
@rainandpours

They both have relatively the same heat resistance as far as I am aware, the art coat has more UV stabilisers but can tend to look blue when applied

This video was fantastic and very helpful, thank you ❤ I have trouble working out the amount of resin to use. I have used a resin calculator but I still end up with too much and waste a lot of resin. You mentioned that you use 8-10mls for a coaster (that's very helpful), how much did you use on your clocks? I was wondering what the amount would be needed for say, a 35cmx35cm round. Can you please help?🤞😀

I am pretty good a guessing how much I need now so I can't say exactly. What I do is resin all of my items on the same boards so the surface area of everything is roughly the same. For example 8 coasters to a board = 2 clocks on the same board and that's usually pretty accurate. Any leftover resin I pour into moulds and make leyrings

Is this the same process that you would use for canvas resining?
@rainandpours

Yep :) with canvas just support the back with some sturdy cardboard so it doesn't sag

@@rainandpours Thank you Thank you. I resined 4 canvases and they came out so nicely. I think the secret is spritzing with water in the room and I had minimal to no fluffies. So happy😊

How long do you leave the coasters before they are fully cured?
@rainandpours
3 ай бұрын
At least 1 week on tile or 2 weeks for anything else coaster sized, canvases or wood panels always 4 weeks

@@rainandpours so a cup of coffee will be fine and not stick after 1 week on a coaster?
@rainandpours
3 ай бұрын
@dianathielen8676 oh sorry I thought you meant for the paint. Stonecoat resin says full cure in 7 days and yes a cup of coffee shouldn't stick after that point, however, if I'm making them as a commission or to sell then I would wait between 3-4 weeks to reach maximum hardness and heat resistance. That goes for any resin in general.

Why after I apply the resin it pulls from the sides after a few hours?
