Jeff Wellman in nautical terms it’s referenced as ‘chine walking’. Chine walking is a condition that, in general, high powered, higher speed, mostly flat bottom boats can get into, when 99% of the boat is out of the water, skimming along on the outdrive, and the boat will tip from side to side, as one chine touches the water, the force causes the boat to tip the other way...as the other chine touches the water, the force causes the boat to tip back, and so on and so on.

Designed that way. Lots of boats do it so it's harder to mess up by bump oversteer or user error and getting elected or rolled at speed. A v hull boat can pull more G's than a car at high speed. Not something you really want happening without seat belts.

I always pissed off my best friend with his 21 ft. Baja bowrider, with a 220 Mercury Laser outboard.
