Thanks for not editing the mistake you made when calculating the rafter. That speaks highly of you. Awesome content 🔥

Sure thing! What I did was I subtracted the ridge thickness even though the rafters run OVER the ridge 🫠

Years ago I watched videos of a house being built. The gentleman’s name was Larry Haun. The guy was smart and efficient and didn’t cut corners you and your crew remind me of him. If you don’t know him look him up!

Your mistake. You didn't need to subtract the ridge because the long points of your rafters kiss. Muscle memory I'm sure lol

I remodeled an old cabin I bought from 1940’s or 30’s it was sitting on flat rock with like large post / girder type const! Under it was bedrock! So it was an obvious carefully picked spot! My Dad who was a GC home builder ( at the time I was a Go-fer). It was totally dead nutz square? Had not moved an inch since the day it was dropped there? Dad kept going back and forth checking everything mumbling “ No Way”! So it does not surprise me you’re almost square! By the way I dug out that old, old septic pit by shovel which had not been used in 40/50 yrs ! Pretty cool bottles and “ Stuff “ in there!

Why didn’t you also subtract your ridge height & beam that ridge post sits on & cut your post, then add that number to your other post from plate height, then set ridge on your posts? Also add your 1-3/4 back first

U make it look easy but remembering the formula, which part applies to this or that project and various other influences is not really all that easy ? If it was everyone would hire their neighbors kid to do it ? U know like we do to mow or lawns , trim a tree , ect.,. I do finish & cabinets my floor is littered with short cuts, wrong angles, grain mis matches & so on! Doing what you do is skill then thrown in what you said lastly “ gotta look for something to keep the guys busy”! Now we’re talking !
