I like to do a thousand boken strikes now and then. I find it's a great way to check in with my aikido, to see how relaxed I'm moving, to make sure I'm moving from my center. It's a moving meditation. And whenever I take the time to do a thousand strikes, something changes for the better. I relax a little more, my strike becomes a little smoother, my footwork a little lighter. I encourage you to give it a try. It's a great sense of accomplishment.
