I would dump that savage for a Howa in a heartbeat. As soon as i got rid of the savage guns i had, and replaced them with Howa`s, my problems went away instantly. And Howa has a Sub-MOA guarantee right out of the box, and that is with factory ammo. I custom load my own ammo, which stomps any factory ammo. The Howa also has one hell of a nice (adjustable) trigger as well. Savage can`t even come close to what Howa offers in precision accuracy.

I agree, Howa's are great rifles. I used to have one about 15 years ago, unfortunately I had to sell when I was short on money. When inventories of .223 rifles come back, I'll be looking for something again. Also thinking about the Tikka's. I've had several Savage rifles over the years and never had an issue with one until now. But when a persons hard earned money is involved, it only take one bad experience to sour a person on a brand. I still won't but Colt firearms due to a bad AR Sporter I bought in 1991 (however, with the purchase of Colt by CZ, that may change). Anyway, thanks for the input, when it comes time to buy another rifle, I'll keep your recommendation in mind.

@@donalddevall7184, I haven't been able to find a Howa in .223 but I did get a Winchester XPR .223 varmint rifle a few weeks ago. So far I really like it. I do have one video on it already.

I believe that was a 75 Grain BTHP remanufactured by Peak Performance. I do not buy from them anymore because they failed to deliver on a 1000 round order of ,40 S&W during the pandemic yet they kept my money. I have tried to contact them a number of times and they have never responded. I will not buy from them ever again and I can not recommend anyone buying from them. I now buy my .223 ammo from Freedom Munitions or LAX. And personally I think the Freedom Munitions and Lax is a little better (watch my more recent videos to see).

My notes on that rifle and the 75 grain ammo I was using say I was about 34.875 MOA up elevation for 1000 yards (rifle is zero at 100 Yards).

@@holynuman, it looks like I never did chronograph for that rifle for the 75 grain ammo. I have done chronograph for the Freedom Munitions 69 grain that was 2992 FPS ( the Savage has a 26 inch barrel). My Winchester XPR 24 inch barrel had 2922 FPS with the same ammo. My AR15 24 inch barrel had 2935 FPS with that ammo. The XPR and AR15 were just chronographed again just last week (there are videos for those).

No big deal, US Service Rifle Competitors have been shooting 75 grain AMAX in NRA 1000 yard events for about 25 years. First round hits are easy when you understand two things, bullet drop compensation and wind. This shooter does not understand every shot requires appraisal and adjustment for wind since just a 10 mph crosswind will displace bullet over 100 inches at 1000 yards.
