I love Scott being part of the review. I love to hear and see you guys banter back and forth. Great review. We are in middle Georgia so A/C isn't an option. Our humidity alone (usually around 90+%) makes air conditioning a must. Mold will grow inside your house fairly quickly. Every home has central air unless it was built prior to about 1950ish. This would also be GREAT in a camper if you have an A/C unit in there that needs help. We used one, during the middle of a camping trip in Florida, when our camper's A/C unit went on the fritz. It kept us from having to go back home.

Hey Sophia, I have an idea regarding a timed on/off How about putting a “smart plug” in your socket then you could plug it into that and control it from your Alexa app ! Tell it to turn on at a specific time and even shut off at a specific time. I do this with a few things in my home and it is fantastic. You just need to make sure to leave it in the “on” position and control the on and off from the app. AC is a life changer ! Always happy to see Scott involved .

Hottest ever in Phoenix AZ in my lifetime was 122°F, a little higher than our usual 110° - 115° so A/C is a must in the desert southwest. Then again when I lived in Phoenix back in the mid-1950s we had no A/C and no evaporative cooler, but Phoenix was smaller and not the heat island it is today with all the concrete, blacktop, and houses holding in the heat.

This was just ❤ entertaining. I can't imagine not having central air conditioning. Climate control is essential for many reasons. Proper climate control maintains the environment so your house humidity remains low enough to avoid mold growth. You can have a separate dehumidifier. Central air tends to handle dehumidifying. Air conditioning is a necessity with computers and electronics. Moisture and heat damage things, especially books, art work, everything. Museums and archives, as you know, are climate controlled. Any place with a lot of electronics is going to be climate controlled. Wherever I live is going to be climate controlled. As for me, I am not a nice person 😅 unless the temperature is below 68°F and the humidity is at or below 50%. If you want a bigger option that isn't quite as massive as a central air unit plus ductwork, you can look at a mini split for bigger rooms. I have to install a window AC for a room that the central air doesn't cool to my preferences. It's a Danby U Shape Inverter Window AC 8k BTU. The install looks easy. Their installation instruction video is on KZitem. It's a Midea twin. Looks the same. Inverters are quiter than conventional compressor units. Yeah Im now consumed by the thought of climate control. It's a necessity! Luv this video.

But it’s supposed to work as a dehumidifier and remove moisture from the air whilst it’s set to AC mode, doesn’t it?? I’m just confused why “Dehumidifier” is a separate function, unless it’s just giving you the option to use it exclusively as a dehumidifier?
@parkerbohnn
3 ай бұрын
Don't use the dehumidifier mode and don't drain the water in A/C mode as the water cools the compressor. Only drain some of the water in A/C mode if it gets near full. I read the entire manual and zero instructions on the inside louver that cuts off half of the opening. It seems like its fixed.

we had 2 older versions of a portable a/c I really hope they have made changes..... I hope this was just a fluke for our home but it would create a vacuum in our house and the water heater wouldn't vent because the a/c unit was pulling air down our water heater vent so all the exhaust from the water heater was in our basement. Just something to watch out for if you have any thing that isn't a direct vent!

I guess it comes down to personal preference…. I don’t care for air conditioning in general either but those portable ones don’t do it for me at all. I’d get a mini split if I truly wanted something more permanent but I live in NW NJ & I have one window air conditioner in case I seriously need something and for the few days in the weeks here and there, especially in August, that the heat gets to me I will use it …. I’ve had a couple of those portable ones …just to try them out…I hated the space they take up in any room they are used in …which when used in a small room already is unacceptable to me….also the vent hose generates it’s own heat if used long enough …so it also needs to cool the heat it generates…and frankly it’s easier to put in a window unit than trying to adjust those to fit certain windows ….we just plop it in the window, seal it up and plug it in…only takes maybe 20 minutes….and from the sound of you portable one my window unit is just as quiet or quieter …hope it works for you.
