Shelby Cobra. OBVI!! :) Saw one at my track even about 3 weeks ago. It was awesome. Old dude was ripping it, too, not babying it. I hate seeing proper cars being babied and garaged. I daily my Bullitt, winter tires go on soon!

Weighs 1500 lbs less but it shouldn't keep up for too long. Over 3 sec slower in 0-60 and quarter mile. New tires should help... Possible the newer one should've been in a lower gear.

That would be interesting. The 69 charger was super under rated at 425hp. I’ve heard stories that people recently built them to factory spec and have been able to pull over 500hp on a dyno. Crazy. I think a 426 hemi with the torqueflite with a shift kit would give a modern 392 a run for its money compared to the GT350s

65's the best looking too. The newer R needs to lose some serious weight and get some lines. They really should have compared a 65 gt350r with the new R. But I understand that these are street cars.

I will say honestly I'm not a Ford fan overall, but those cars are both beautiful. There's something about the simplicity of the 65' that makes it unique and focused on the driving experience. Great video.

The 2016 to 2020 Shelby GT 350R is my dream car, and it's amazing how similar both of the car sound it's beautiful. I recently subscribe when you guys got your Raptor and Prowler, but watching this video was definitely a great start to the day!

Mustangs used to be pretty light. My 2003 GT weighs just 3,200 lbs.

Great video. I am a 65 GT350 TRIBUTE owner. It’s Been my daily driver since 2006. I’m finishing up with a fresh restoration and will be driving it again as my daily, as well as a track car. Mine looks more like the competition model version now. With a 331 stroker the performance should be great. I personally have never driven a new Mustang let alone new Shelby GT 350, but I will tell you that a lot of your feedback regarding classic 65 spot on.

I own a 67 gt and drove the new mustang earlier this year and its way more fun. Plus the gas tanks dont shoot ignited fuel on the passengers if you get rear ended.

Really, really good job guys! I've watched a lot of your videos this probably was one of the best. Having had nine Mustangs I completely understand the big cheese eating grin. As maligned as they get by people, there's a reason they've been solid for this long. They're simply one of the world's most beloved cars. And your review of the original GT350 only reinforced this car as easily being one of my top five dream cars of all time. Absolutely timeless...

I've got a 65 289 coupe and they're a great joy to drive, and like you said everyone loves them, even over much more expensive cars. My recommendation, buy a non-special edition original mustang, coupes are the cheapest, to save your cash as every part in the world is available to convert or add features as you like! Great video Pipes, as usual.

Back in 1966, I purchased a 1966 Shelby GT350 (carry over version) from S&C Ford in San Francisco. I had to sell it two years later because of......Viet Nam service. Fifty years later, I purchased a 2016 Shelby GT350 from Fremont Ford, so I have driven both cars. Just to correct something you stated, back in 1965, Shelby built 37 competition models, which ford decided to build the same number for their 2015 introduction of the new Shelby Mustang. The newer model is much easier to drive, better performance and better handling. The 65-66 models were basically race cars that they made mods to in order to sell it as a street machine.

I've never been a fan of the newer mustangs, 2000 and up. But was looking at a 2019 Gt350 once, while my girl was in servicing her car and I fell in love with that car. There's something about the interior, the sound, the look that just completely grabbed me and it reminded me, why I love cars. Soon, I'll own a 350 cause it is an amazing car.

There's a couple of reasons why they're bigger now. One is because of the safety tech, and two bigger cars have more relaxed emission and fuel economy standards.

Nothing beats the sound and feel of the old muscle 💪❤💪❤💪. I was raised on old muscle and it is a life long drug that you NEVER get enough of. My first 12 words all had to do with cars. Forst being VROOM VROOM. That being the name of my Dad's '71 Nova SS and then the second one as well but continued

By the way, you guys were driving the street version GT350. It’s a whole-nether level to drive a GT350 competition; in 65 they were never called R model, that was added by word of mouth. The pure rawness of a competition model would most definitely make your eyes tear up with joy, your adrenaline pump out 10/30w oil and your ears bleed!

@@denniswashburn9662 indeed. Never got to drive one yet, but I have been for a ride in a almost completely stock one. Only thing not stock was the mufflers. A similar car I have driven is my dads bolt on 07 GT500. Very fun car. I know it’s not the same, but a relatively similar car

I used to have the Heritage GT350 but now I have a GT500 with a Whipple Supercharger(3.8 litres) tuned down to 850 hp with a white paint and blue stripes like the old GT350
