Very nice work. Hard hitting hammer. I have a 25lb LG and a 100 lb self contained pneumatic in my little shop. I’m old and tired. I couldn’t make anything without those hammers. You are going to love your hammer AND be proud of your creation?

Awesome build I have been searching for a very long time for a good video of a homebuilt power hammer and I have to say this one is the best. Overall for the equipment and pieces you guys used to make it, it has to be one of the best I have seen built. Simple but Effective. Is there any chance that you perhaps have a blueprint or drawing of the overall dimensions that I could purchase from you ? Unless you found the plans online. If not no worries but I would be highly interested in building one for myself! Thank you for your time and great video!

Hahah that's how some of the best projects come together you just build as you go! I can certainly say that yours seems to be built better than most of the other homemade versions I have seen. Defiantly functions much smoother and bounces around a lot less than others. I have more questions about it than you would want to answer haha! Only thing I would be curious to still know is the length of the leaf spring that is being used. Thanks for offering your help! @@realstihl2105

@@realstihl2105 well keep the VDOs coming. Looking forward to your next build, I’ve taken hundreds of screen shots of your build and started scratching out my own designs based on something very similar to your build regards the frame work and leaf spring, but I would use a car tire as part of the drive.

Congratulations RealStihl ! That's one of the best home designed and made hammers out there. I especially like the design of the foot control. Much easier to get fine control that way. :) How have you calculated the 100lb weight? Is it the actual weight of the moving hammer shaft, or the calculated striking force? Cheers, from downunda! :)

@@realstihl2105 You’re welcome and thanks for your reply. I had already drawn up plans for one very similar, but with a car tyre type drive. I have the heavy tube for the frame, leaf springs and motor and just got the 4” diameter ram on the weekend. It weighs 29kg (60 odd lb) and should be just right for my work. Anyway, good luck with your forging and I’ll be keeping an eye out for more. 😁👍🏼👏 Cheers!

Wow I would love to make these and sell them. Unfortunately to buy all the supplies and all the machining and welding it would cost a lot to make and sell I would say between $10,000 and $11,000. For an exact machine. We used all cutoffs from the machine shop it cost us only around $800. But finding those sizes again wouldn’t be easy.
