Thanks for the comment, The reason that I know film in museum instead of taken pictures is to be able to show the rest of the word some of these magnificent collections and set ups. I do understand not everybody can travel to these places, and specially the Veterans, some of them visit us, but it get's fewer every year :(

thanks, it is hard to film a museum to show its collection in a good way, definitly if everything is stored behind glass. I always take pictures, but from now on I decided to film the collection, so more musea will follow soon ;)

What is not mentioned in your video is that Hitler was in the street of the museum in May 1940, a few houses from the old Mess of the Officers of the "2ème Regiment de Chasseurs Ardennais" where he met with Von Rundstedt* and Keitel. Those pictures are shown in the museum but most visitors do not realize that. I visited yesterday and took approx. 2 hours to read ALL legends of the photographs of the whole museum. That's why I discovered these photos. Strange that the museum does not mention that openly and there are no signs on the façade of that house on the corner of the "Avenue de la Gare" where that meeting went on. The house remained intact, just the door was changed according to the museum employee. * Erratum: I saw I wrote falsely the name of Von Ribbentrop above but had to change it by "Von Rundstedt". Duly noted.

That picture I missed, strange because I visit this museum a couple times a year. But you're correct on the house at the corner of the street, and ther is indeed no indication of the picture that was taken there. Did you also walked back towards the main street, so you passed the aid station that was bombed? there is a sign on the wall of the chinese restaurant. That building was completely bombed.

@@TauroWW2 No, I did not walk back to the main street. I made photos of these 2 photos in the museum. They are on a wooden presenter display (some kind of lectern) against the wall (at the left side) in the room over the ticket and information boot where the large staff land card is exposed. I didn't see these displays in that room in your video at 19:49 so must be quite recent? When I went making the photos of the house in the street I met an elder man and asked him. He said his father made the photos and that the photos were given to the museum. Not sure that is true but could sound realistic. Some inhabitants of Bastogne confirmed me later that day that Hitler was there in that house as the photos do show. I search a way to link these photos here and come back on this ASAP.

Well, that's personal opinion, but I believe it's already a TOP museum, there are a couple more in Belgium worth visiting. I will make movies of these one also in the near future like the museum at La Gleize, Baugnez, Joubieval and Bastogne 44 (right before you enter Luxembourg)

@robmusting GK There are actually 3 war museums in Bastogne: - The Mardasson at bit outside Bastogne direction of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg and Bizory - The 101st Airborn museum in the center of Bastogne (Rue de la Gare) - Bastogne Barracks near the center (I did not visit this last one yet but will do soon).

This is not a museum dedicated to the 101st. It is a museum dedicated to D-Day or something else. I don't see much of the war relics dedicated to the heroes of the 101st, do you?
@TauroWW2
7 жыл бұрын
Well depends on how you look at it. It has been used as a HQ during the Battle of the Bulge. Most items are relics from the woods were the 101st fought in Bastogne. Some Veterans also donated their gear and is also displayed in this museum. As you can see this is really focussed mostly on the Bastogne (Battle of the Bulge) period.
