Day 104 of chemotherapy. Did my sixth cycle and am seriously debating the cost to benefit of going 12 vs 8 cycles of Folfox. I honestly don't think that 12 is necessary for the stage and level of cancer I had. It had not metastasized to my lymph nodes and had a micro-perforation. It seems that I am being provided a one-size-fits-all approach. Malpractice lawsuits and too many patients prevents physicians from providing the highest level of care possible. When taking everything into consideration and reading several medical studies I am seriously looking at stopping treatment at 8 cycles. If I get cancer again after 8 then it must be my time to go. The longer-term side effects vs the assurance of treatment efficacy are important to me. My quality of life is extremely important to me. I'm not going to just sit on the couch for the rest of my life. I'm not willing to suffer side effects indefinitely. There's a financial incentive for companies to keep giving us treatment. Not everyone involved here is working in the field to help the sick; some of them are doing it for the money and the longer I endure treatment the more money they make.
