Regarding the talk about the A's trading Miller. It just doesn't make sense. The A's are a joke now, but they don't plan on being terrible forever and especially not after they move. They have Mason Miller under team control through 2029. Presumably he is part of a future where they intend to actually be competitive. You don't just dump a hyper talented player with 6 years of control because you're not competing right now.

Furthermore, the Orioles were absolutely atrocious from 2018-2021 and then won 101 games in 2023. Turnarounds can happen quickly baseball.

I think pitchers are going to turn into the running backs of baseball. Shortened careers (and potential earnings) as modern strategy runs their bodies into the ground at an early age.

violating all decency by replying to myself, the additional chat on Mason Miller is important to me. The A's should be taken over by the MLB, give the owner the club's value+X and finally let the team do more than just play it's games each season.... but compete with the rest of the league in the sport. OR? The USA starts to have the conversation of Promotion/Relegation for the baseball system. There ARE teams everywhere, all the way down to organized amateur. Winning the Pennant will actually matter once more, and the World Series will become a true tournament in the style of the FA Cup. Yes, yes the level of competition can not be fair for AAA, AA, A teams after they are divorced from their Major affiliate. But that will naturally level out over time as players become professionals much younger, as veterans drop down divisions to stay in the game making money, and as Major teams are no longer able to keep more than 40 players max (I assume the less talented of those 40 go out on Loan to lower leagues, once more raising the level of competition throughout the system.) Teams that behave like the A's would not be able to skate by on the effort of the of the top teams, but be forced to compete in Every Game, because every game now Matters. I am sure that for those of us who understand the EFL's pyramid, and the non-league levels below it, we can agree that one of the first teams to be relegated will be the A's?

Hey Ninja, I'm curious if you'll start covering less velo/spin and more accuracy/selection with the recent injuries. I'd like to see less emphasis on velo/spin, personally. This 100+ mph stuff is less exciting, nowadays. I want to see how pitchers can win without blowing people away.
@luckyjinxer

I mean, me too, but there's like 4 of them - and even the best tend to get shelled every once in a while. Look at Bryce elder for the braves - dominant for half a year, all star pitching with a fastball maxing out at 92, but then he fell off a cliff, and now he's in AAA.
@PitchingNinjaVideos
5 ай бұрын
Nope. I'm going to keep covering what I cover. I've always focused on both. It's not like Shane Bieber was a flamethrower or had outrageous spin, he's a pure pitcher...and he still is getting Tommy John. Kyle Hendricks is a pure pitcher, not a flamethrower...I regularly feature him (but he's got a 12 era this year). 100 mph stuff will always be exciting as will pitchers who get it done other ways. I'm featuring the filthiest stuff I see every day. Ranger Suarez didn't throw gas, he's featured today. Whatever pitchers are successful will get featured.
