I have 2 kitchens - wet and dry. This is typical of most Malaysian homes where we mostly cook in the wet kitchen and handle raw meat here. My work space is rather small and most of my cooking utensils are kept inside the cabinet somewhat messily. I also have some frequently used ones in glass jars but I kept having to move them around to make space on my small countertop and also when wiping down the surface after cooking. Sometimes the glass jars would fall down and crack.
I've always wanted to hang everything up but standard kitchen hangers are fixed to the wall with nails. Husband doesn't allow it because he's afraid he might drill into an electrical wire or a pipe in the wall. So the best option is to hang my utensils from the ceiling and hence, the idea of a rustic kitchen branch hanger was born in 2023.
But we only got to do it in 2024 haha.
But Sarah, you didn't do much in the video. It was your husband! Yea...who's gonna film if I was doing all the sawing, drilling and all? My husband can't film for peanuts. I was behind the camera, telling him what to do lol.
Now that the branches are installed, I get to hang all my utensils up. There's 3 more items in the cabinet but it's ok. I love the convenience of reaching out for these things fast. I love not having to open my cabinet doors frequently and bend down to look for my colander or big soup spoon, etc. It also adds a visual interest to my plain kitchen.
