Thanks for this video, I was suspecting about that conector is sufficient to add a battery, and you confirmed me that. It seems to be easy, I'll try watching your video. Thanks!

I have that microscope and it came with the battery. I do not like the USB port connection on the side for charging. It is really close to the case and does not have enough room for most cables to fit. I am going to attach a battery holder to back and use two 18650 cells in parallel and run a wire inside to the board. That way I can remove the batteries when they need charging instead of having to use a USB cord. I will also be attaching the microscope to a microphone boom. The base is too small and gets in the way. A separate lamp from the side is also useful for better lighting as the LEDs on the scope give off too much glare.

I’m curious about the voltage / power the on-board charger uses. I imagine it should be safe if you use a low power USB-adapter but it could still over-charge.

@@TimsElectronicsLab nope, flux is not only for the oxidation generated by the heat but also because of the capillarity and heat propagation it induces while soldering.

It sounds like a capacitor is not soldered in properly or something, I don't think that the firmware is corrupted as that will probably cause some kind of checksum error at boot

i bought it g1200 , and used it for a month , and i regret it , the image quality is very bad , it never gives good balance between light and dark areas , the light is refleced directly to the camera when working with cicuit boards or electronics repairs , cannot see the parts clearly and the colors is not clear too , cannot tell if there is some thing dicolored or burned , and after a month or so of usage , it died , it doesnt turn on , i opened it and tested the board , i found the circuit board to be shorting on the power area next to the charger port , and its poor design seems to have failed in short time because it generates lots of heat while it doesnt have and proper cooling , its one of the worst microscopes in the market and no matter what price you pay for it , doesnt worth it never buy this model , you will end up throwing it in trash
