So many years ago a lonely awkward 17 yo kid heard this song on an old FM radio. It exposed a very painful realization of lost love and broken dreams of youthful bliss. It had a truly emotional impact when played and created an almost drug-like effect that soothed the soul. That kid is now a weary aged traveler still on that road seeking those distant dreams in the mist that keeps getting thicker. This excellent edit gives that legendary recording its due!

Probably THE best love song written in the 70s. I was 12 in 1975 and fell in love with this song straight away. It’s my favourite love song of all time. I went to see 10CC a few weeks ago in Dublin and though the lineup has changed they did an outstanding version of this classic so much so they got a standing ovation after it. I absolutely love 10CC

Amazing how music can transport you back decades to more youthful times. I ran away from home in 75 to live with my grandpa & did my final year of school prior to university. A turning point in my life. Things steadily got better. This is a very beautiful song. Takes me back to when I was sweet 16.

Great song. I miss the days of my youth. I have found that a personal relationship with Jesus (God became a man and walked with us), paid the price and reconciled us with our Creator is everything. He will fulfill those longings you feel when you hear songs like this. The eternal longings we all have. You will not regret trusting in Him.

This song always reminds me of my first best friend's dad who had the best stereo system in the world to me. I went to my friends house before school because we would walk together. When I entered the living room this song was playing and the sun was shining just right through the trees and then through the window. It was almost a religious experience for me because I loved music so much. It is in my rotation on my list of music so I hear it quite a few times during the year. I can tell you love music almost as much as I do. 😂Thank you for the great music!

The choir sound was made by singing a note ("aaah") and then singing back to the tape and recording on another track. By doing this multiple times just the members of the band were able to build a choral sound of hundreds of voices. Each of the notes was then allocated to a particular fader on the mixing desk, thereby making the desk itself an instrument that could replicate a massive choir. The few tracks left were allocated to the other instruments. The "big boys don't cry" refrain was done by the studio receptionist.

People today don't know how to make music to save themselves.. Not saying all music sucks some you'll be scratching your head and going wt🤬 I just listened too and wasted 3 minutes of my life.. So glad I grew up in these generation of the 70s and 80s When music was music and it had emotions and it was written in poems lyrics that we all can related in our lives what we were going through at that time and reflected on it that makes it so special to us when were hear it 40 years later.. 🤔😎

avioncamper don't get me wrong this is a pretty song. But why is it when I hear this song I think this guy is obsessed with the girl he is speaking of. I don't know I could be wrong about him being obsessed. But just seems that way. Lol

When I first heard this song, I loved the instrumentals but didn't understand the lyrics. My being 7 years of age when it came out provides context. However now I get the song totally, perhaps a little too totally.

Love 10cc! IMO, he doesn't realize it yet. Love is creeping in on him. One day you look at her or him and emotions (butterflies and tingling) slowly churn inside. At a party or friend's house all of a sudden, surprisingly, you become instantly aware that you are involuntarily goo-goo, staring and smiling at her or him in their presence...even if they don't know you are in the room.

I was just 6 years old when this came on the radio in Spring of 1975. I was terrified of storms at the time after just having watched The Wizard Of Oz for the very 1st time. Plus, my friend's house nearby had been struck by lightening a week or so earlier and caused her house to burn down. It was storming really bad outside in South St Paul. All i could do was cower in fear but this song was playing at the same time. It was so dang cool that this old memory is actually very pleasant to me now because it still takes me back to that warm spring when I was a little girl scared of the thunder. I love thunderstorms now! 😊

Just came across this remix - Job well done, it's one of the most most perfectly produced and crafted compositions of all time. The emotions and memories that this song has for not only me but for millions of people is incredible and as a foldback audio engineer just listening to how the song is mixed is a true delight.

there are only so many songs/tunes that can take me back in time and really ` put me there` like it was a time machine , this is definitely one of them. The first tones from Stewart`s electric piano and those ` aaaaaaaaaah`s ` bring me straight back to the house I was born in...I see the wallpaper , the lights , the fireplace , the garden , the kitchen table and so much more.....its so amazing how certain music can do that , such a strong feeling and emotion.....like many of us experience listening to this unreal and beautiful song. A lifelong favorite of mine !!
