This first class is what many airlines offer in business class nowadays, so not a big surprise that they will phase this out. Who in their right mind would pay $15K for this? 😅 [edit: this is a good thing, as we can experience what used to be first class for “only” business class money]

Agreed. They’ve basically bumped first class long haul to business class long haul. And business class long haul is now premium economy. We just flew premium economy to Japan on Delta and it was basically what my parents would fly when they did business class with Cathay Pacific in the early 2000’s.

Just like with everything nowadays, shrinkflation. We, the consumer, pay more, get less while company executives get bonuses. I don't fly anymore, let them all rot.
@bend386
5 ай бұрын
@@mitchdenner9743 how is that relevant to shrinkflation? If anything business class products are better than what they used to be 20 years ago and I’d say with the increased popularity of credit card and frequent flyer points etc they are more accessible to mainstream consumers than they were 20 years ago. Also not sure how business executives get their bonuses are relevant to airfares. I guess you are trying to make the point that executives are overpaid and get too much perks but I can rest assured you business travel is no perk. Having done a few trips where I worked in the offices day of departure, then head to the airport to fly a red eye to an international location in business class, then straight into meetings/businesses once you arrive is not fun and certainly not possible if you got stuck in economy not being able to get any reasonable rest. Companies pay extra to fly people in business not because it’s fun it’s because they want to maximize employee working time on the ground.

Which is only $10,000.00 more than the iffy 1st class the couple on the show paid to traveled. I hope it was a mistake and it was $15,000.00 one way for both and not each. Hey Jeb, I agree that the CX First lounge is the best at T3 although the view isn't great. Most of it is obscured by aerobridges...etc. I see you had to use a lot of zoom in your plane spotting footage? Qantas are opening up a dedicated first class lounge there later this year (or 2024) which is great news as their shared J/F lounge is often crowded. I'd argue that the Qantas First lounge in Sydney probably has the best view in the world. The apron and many gates are directly below it and aircraft rotate or land on the main runway right in front of it.

You are correct that it is a very rare event for anybody in First or Business to pay full price hence the lack of enthusiasm for offering the service. My father was a United Airlines employee, and I was an AA employee for 36 years, so my entire life was spent in the industry. This scrimping on service is one of the easiest ways to save money when nobody is paying for it. It's just my opinion, but this whole thing started with deregulation. I stopped using my flight benefits in 2010 and just use miles now like everybody else. P.S. Good review, Thanks.

I was disappointed, however, that when I arrived in LHR, American did not allow me access to the Flagship Lounge because my continuation ticket to BUD was in Business Class. I wrote to American about this, but they have not replied. I was not overly impressed with the differences between First and Business, although the seating area on the plane was nice with a swivel seat. But, since I was not utilizing the desk area, for me, it really wasn't worth the extra cost. I know that American will discontinue First Class, so it was a treat to have done it, but I probably won't do it again.

First class has come on in leaps and bounds for AA. I flew ORY-DFW in F about 30 years ago. The seat was not lie flat, it was a sheepskin and leather seat. The food offering on board was as good as you would expect the finest of American cusine to be except that leaving France it was not as good as French cuisine. The wines were all described. You were taken from the bus gate to the plane by car which was a surprise.

You're so right about that lounge. The one you used instead looks super luxe.

I love your videos! It's so fascinating seeing different airlines and airports, and you and Susan are such a delight to watch! Have you ever considered looking at airline museums and doing videos on past and current airlines? There's a Northwest Airlines museum in Bloomington, MN (not far from MSP) that has a comprehensive history of the airline up to the Delta merger!

We love to visit aviation museums! But nobody makes videos about them quite as well as our buddy Paul Stewart!

Question for you Jeb: with the Boeing issues lately, would you fault someone for opting for a flight on Airbus? My family was having this conversation when planning an upcoming trip and we agreed to skip Boeing for the time being.

Insane. I flew Condor business class prime from Frankfurt to New York for nearly $14,000 less than this ticket and I got a bigger seat, free wifi, and better food.

Awesome video Jeb! The American Airlines Flagship First Class from LHR-DFW on their 777-300ER looks sweet! 😅However, for $15,000 or MORE! 💸💸🤑I don’t think it’s worth the money but maybe you can justify that cost. I’d rather fly AA Economy or Economy Plus no matter how long the trip as I’m comfy in any cabin and just LIVE & LOVE TO FLY! 😅 Also at 3:02 that’s a bit controversial as you’d prefer plane spotting at London Heathrow over Frankfurt??? REALLY? 🤔 *FRA still has the B747s both passenger and freighter variants I’d 100% PREFER FRANKFURT OVER HEATHROW!* Cheers 🥂 my friend! A HUGE CHEERS to Flagship First! Also *YOU HAVE FEATURED AMERICAN AIRLINES INTERNATIONALLY before on this channel! You flew their B737 MAX 8 Economy from St. Marten 🇳🇱 🇫🇷 to Miami Florida 🇺🇸 and THAT IS ABSOLUTELY INTERNATIONAL!* Especially since St. Marten is both French and Dutch it’s really like flying from two countries to the USA! 🇺🇸 😅 Thanks Jeb! 🙏

If your overnighting in London a great place is the Northern edge of LHR is Bath road. plenty of hotels for plane spotting with a great view of the terminals and an active runway.

Don't all meals come from the same kitchens? I mean, it was probably made by the same folks who make meals for all the other carriers. So what differentiates what's on the plate? The recipe?

That plane/layout looks like it could be an old cathay Pacific 777s which they sold during covid

Their arrival in the US was their home country, and they got to London in the first case by less expensive means…
