I prefer 1.93” mounts for lpvos. I like the unity riser mounts for red dots. Helps under nods. Less neck strain etc.

This is intriguing. Also every single person has different vision. I personally have come to find that really low mounted scopes are not my thing. I have always struggled to look through scopes because of that. Its because my vision get 'impared' as I bring my head down to look up, then I'm fighting the whole time to properly look through the scope, and consistent mounting on my shoulder.

Just made the leap to 2.26 with a Unity… unexpected benefit… if you’re a brace shooter… puts the most solid part of the brace nicely against your body. At 6’3” I’m glad I did it- was def apprehensive. No issues in prone other than I can’t really rest on the stock/brace and keep the sight picture. I’ve not tried it with an LPVO but my sparc and t2 are perfect like this. Both being Operationally parallax free I’m Not too concerned about the floating chin weld. If you’re a tall guy don’t bother stopping at 1.93 IMO.

I don't understand why people seem to think you need to AVOID a cheekweld on an AR15

It's not about avoiding the cheeckweld, its about adjusting the gun to your face/body.

because my break is so loud i dont like shooting my gun with foamies or any plugs iv tried for that matter and its difficult too get a cheekweld as well as a sight picture simultaneously with my ear muffs on and lower profile rings. 1.5-1.75 height optics mount at a minimum are what iv found too be neccisary for me too be able too get a firm cheek weld while holding my head more upright as well as have my stock pinned too my chest (more towards the center but not dead center, or inner shoulder really and i use a c clamp grip and have the c clamping elbow up in the air a lil so im using my lats and tris too hold the gun up as well as my grip too wedge the rifle in so its effortless too keep the gun aloft for long durations and manage recoil. while standing. trigger arm is pinned too my hip or side pulling stock too chest as well helping my support arm and avoiding being a target by chicken winging it. this way upper body becomes like a locked in stable turret and is a comfortable repeatable stance grip posture watchacall it ( not at first but after while of practicing) and what i tend too do most but i do mix it up depending on scenarios because versatility is important) cats that have only shot standing sideways too thier target elmer fudd style always think I'm tryna be gi joe and dont get it till they see how tightly of a group i can shoot at speed and how quickly it helps me transition by engaging the lower body and using the abs and foot work too pivot my turret so too speak. cheekwelds important thier just talking about different angle of cheekweld. ima try these 193 mounts cuz my PEPER mount still makes my muffs get it the way a lil

I don’t think it’s about avoidance per se… but at least with a good quality red dot that doesn’t require the consistent cheek weld other sights do… it’s about discussing what other ergonomics are maybe more relevant than the cheek weld. When I shoot irons I recognize how important my cheek weld is.

I’m starting to transition my optics to the higher mounts. My razor is on a 1.93 mount and that’s about perfect for me. I have another LVPO on a 2.26 mount and it works but it’s high. Definitely the 2.26 gives you a heads up shooting position. I now hate my 1.5 mounts…

2 things: if you're worried about using your back-up iron in case your primary optic goes down, that's what QD mounts are for. Secondly, Unity Fast Micro mounts have irons sight built in, so if you decide to get something that's a 2.26, and have a T-2 pattern dot, it removes the need to even consider a back up rear sight on the rifle. And you can still zero a rear sight on the rifle and then take it off and have it in a bag as an absolute last-ditch effort if you'd like, but it's gonna take a lot to destroy the FAST mount.

If you're going to go through the trouble of keeping a backup rear sight to attach during an emergency, it really wouldn't be any more inconvenient to keep a small RDS on a QD mount instead. Hell, just keep another T-2 on another FAST mount for the ultimate in redundancy lol

Used to be a time when you kept your head low during operations and your carbine high and at the ready. Now we want low, natural, comfortable positioning where your tendency to get your head blown off trying to track your weapon over obstacles is becoming norm. Can't wait for this fad to pass.

Umm, a more comfortable rifle means more effective fire downrange, more effective downrange fire is a great way to kill the bad guy before he blows your head off.

The reasoning for a high mount is for when running NODs and full face respirators. There is a reason, it’s not just a fad.

From the low ready, I am finding that the high mount gets me on target faster and transition between targets faster also.

So if you're not searching through your optic, (which you shouldn't) why the high mount? Because if you bring the gun down just out of the way and you bring the rifle up to your eye, what advantage is any hight of the optic????
