Natural fancy diamonds such as reds, pinks, yellows, and blues are very rare stones that rightfully command huge asking prices. MOST people believe all diamonds are rare...this is not true. They do not know about the vast reserves diamond companies hold back from being placed on the market in order to keep prices high. They also are unaware of the MASSIVE mark-up that is being passed along to them. People will pay big money for a thing they believe to be rare...when in reality it is not.

Alluvial diamonds typically have better clarity because they're washed down from the mountains over centuries, and the process breaks down stones with too many flaws. So you're left with stones that are cleaner.

Right on. Its sad. They should get paid more for what they do. But are the diamonds all over Africa close to the surface? I'm sure they have lots of gold in the ground too.

@swloca

exactly. they are dark skinned so the sun beats down on them harder. it always pisses me off seeing a white man chilling sitting back doing nothing but reaping benefits. If that money would be equaly distrubited there would be housed and well fed children in African. money for medical treatments etc. the cocoa and natural gem prophits need to go to the people and that country not some slave driver.

+swloca Oh cut the crap. This is a mining with diamonds - So mostly in Africa. The majority of people in these countries are black so of course they are going to be the workers there. If you ever go to Australia out in farming district where it gets to 48 degrees, you will see mainly white people working and sweating in the heat of the sun. The white guy probably brought and owns the mine - Are you saying white people arent allowed to do that? Pretty sure you would have been more pissed off if you found out that he hired only white people from that country to do the work - because it would take wages away from those most in need.

There's diamonds in my creek behind my house. Along with gold which is all over the United States. Problem is I live Where the Glaciers came through so it's all mostly flour gold and no worth the effort but there are nice diamonds and pinker size nuggets if you work you're but off. How did the diamonds get here you ask? A meteor hit a diamond field way up in Canada and they rolled on down with the glaciers. It's a shame we exploit countries like Sierra Leone and the Congo for diamonds.

Seriously? Someone needs to do their homework. Those workers will get maybe 1 decent diamond in their lifetime, and the ones they do find they will get minimal payment for by greedy corrupt officials that will sell them on for their true worth. Since only the officials are allowed to trade the diamonds those that find them have no choice but to sell to them. Its illegal to even own a rough diamond in Africa and they have to be sold immediatly to government or mine officials.

Diamonds are not rare at all. Quality diamonds are not that rare either. It's big companies that makes too much commercial about how rare they are. The only rare diamonds are the colored diamonds. Naturally red, green, pink, blue etc. Then there is many gems more rare. For example there is taaffeite. 1 gram of taaffeite is equal of 1000 kilos of diamonds in rarity. Though the market for taffeeite is small which makes them as cheap as diamond. It's not beneficial enough otherwise.

It's pretty much people handing the goods to whoever has the brains, money, and will power to start his/her own business and run the operations, and the labourers that who are free men and women feel the wages they make doing so are acceptable enough to be doing it in the first place. They are free to start their own operations at any given time and take goods from the "white" man if they so choose.
@ihopeyouenjoyedreadingthis2030

Omg you lot. Stop it with the "poor black slave" bullshit. Yes one of the men there was white but guess what, the other boss there was black. If you are working in a country with mostly black people, chances are your workers are going to be black. In Australia we have mines similar to this and even our farming community and all of the white people work in the same hot and horrid conditions for their wage. Its not a matter of race, it is a matter of local work for the local people. Would you honestly prefer these men to only hire foreigner white people who aren't even local to the area or country to work in these mines (thus taking employment away from the locals)?
@skywinder1
8 жыл бұрын
Can you spell naive? first off the only reason the black man is a boss here is because the white man made him a boss and if you haven't realized yet.....those who own the gold make the rules.......of course you have people of all colors slaving under the hot sun....nobody knows the troubles I've seen.......sorry, reverted back for a moment. Whomever owns the land owns what the land produces and since the South Afrikaan whites own most all of the land they rule. And you can't talk....you have opal miners who will shoot you dead if you so much as come onto their claim.
