In this video, I talk about 11 awesome running tips for beginners and how to start running. These are things that I wish I knew before I started running years ago. Hopefully, this video helps you out and gives you some useful tips on how to run better(even if its just a little).

Tip#1 Go Running - This means use momentum to your advantage. If you feel like going go, simple right? Well, sometimes we need that push. I am here to do that, don't wait for the "right time", go run if you want to go!
Tip#2 Avoid Bored Running - Go download/ make a running specific playlist to keep you inspired as you run. Also, audiobooks and podcasts are excellent too if that's more your style.
Tip3# Run Shorter - If you are just starting out, only run in for a couple minutes at a time. I'd suggest using a walk/run program like the couch to 5k plan. Just google it, they are all very similar and will work correctly.
Tip #4 - Remember the Good - Make mental notes about the good vibes you get after each run. This will make you mentally sharp as you continue to do this. Use a notebook and write things down or check off each workout completed. I personally use an app called Strava that automatically shows me my past runs. (Spoiler That's Tip #11)
Tip #5 - Running Stitches - To avoid them, drink small amounts of water and only eat light foods within 2 hours of a run. If you get them, walk for 1-2 minutes, and belly breath and you'll be all good.
Tip #6 - Always start off slow. This means walk for 5 minutes or so, then once you start running, ease into it for the first mile (1.6 km) minimum.
Tip #7 - Rest is Best - Rest all the time, make sure your feet are up on the off days to get the blood buildup out of them. Get plenty of sleep too, your body will thank you.
Tip #8 - Terrain - I recommend to run on grass first, when possible that is. Next, best is groomed trails. If you can't run on these, no worries, just focus on light feet and quick steps.
Tip #9 - Do Some Core - Even if you just do a front plank (1 minute) and side plank (30 sec- 1 minute) twice a week, you'll see significant improvements. If you can't do it that long, no worries, just work up to that as a goal!
Tip #10 - Add Some Form - Form is best corrected is small changes, you should focus on 3 things at a time max. I say in this video chest up, drive the elbows straight back, and I'd add quick feet as well.
Tip #11 - Download the free version of either Strava or Runtastic. Both are great for logging runs, seeing distanced traveled and pace. It's a must-have in my opinion because it gives you great info on pacing to know if you are going too fast on your runs!
