They are really well made basses, but to me.. I can't help it, I just hate how they sound. They always have that hard, annoying thing going on with not enough meat in the mids. Atleast the J types, that is. It works quite well on the fretted, but that fretless is just awful.

careful that bassist's attitude changes the game rules. Try to listen again to this series of basses played by another guy, and probably you'd discover Sandberg is the worst... but it's not true, just - I repeat myself - another human device interacting with the God of Instruments.

Nice! I tend to be a jbass/pbass kind of guy, but the often trebly tones of this video made me choose the Musicvox Spaceranger! But if the Sanberg California TT4 and the F-Bass VF-5P had the tone (or treble) control rolled-off a bit, they would be killer!

@HarryRauer

Hi folks - a very interesting comparison - thanks a lot for posting that. It proofs what I already found out for myself (...although some of you might kill me for that...): A lot of basses just sound the same, no matter of the price tag. I think if you play it yourself and find it sounds different, a lot of that (subjective) "different sound" is due to different playability and making (feel and finish of wood, fingerboard etc.). If you record and compare, you'll end up with my first statement :) - and if you don't have it solo but somewhere in a mix it's even worse - it really comes down to the classics and there are just a very few that really makes a difference. So once again - thanks for convincing me ;)

That first Sandberg was so clear sounding! I wish there would have been a Warwick in the mix though. My Warwick is my one bass that, when compared to other basses on the same amp, is just on a whole different level (literally) haha. I also really want that Sterling!! Good video

Torillo #1 Mayones #2. I like a J Bass Sound but the Sandberg's didn't have enough low end for my tastes. I liked how the Torillo had a kind of PJ bass sound. The Mayones was fantastic and buttery too. If both were being handed to me with the option to pick one my brain would hurt trying to decide. A lot of nice basses overall.

What a fun video. Though I appreciated the diversity in your playing style as you changed basses it would have been interesting if you had stuck to the same groove/perhaps played through a single song. Trickier to shoot and edit perhaps, but a bit more of a clear comparison between the tones.

Daniel Blanco the F-Bass might not be the best buy if you're planning your gear purchases on a tight budget. But if you want to get a high quality bass built to your favorite specifications, especially when it comes to finding the perfect neck shape, then these are great instruments.
