Happy to see an emphasis on the art of photography, and less on encouraging people to buy stuff. Education is power!

This is a very comprehensive look at making a good photograph, and well worth a second, and even a third viewing to take in everything you have spoken about, Peter. Excellent video!🇦🇺

Thank you, Peter. Wow! I think I will need to watch this a few times! Very informative and it is a great road map for me to use as a guide of those things which I need to practise. Many thanks, Peter.

A lot of good advices! The difference between a snap-shot and a photograph is all the artistic and practical work, invested in a photograph. Snap-shot takes 1 second. A photo may take days or years to make. Photography means "capturing the light" but i would also include "capturing the shadows". When both are in place, it may be a picture and with creativity also a photograph.

Shadows are extremely important. Shadows form the shape of the object. Shadows make the image look 3D.

I show my photos mainly to non-photographers. And I noticed that the subject (story) is the most important aspect of a photo. If the subject doesn't connect with the viewer, the photo is often ignored. The other 11 aspects can improve your photo, but if you don't have the right subject for your public, the photo will still fail.

I agree that the subject is important for the general public. They mostly photograph for the memory etc. In that "genre" subject is important.

Good topic. The one point I am constantly working on is controlling the background. I have had some pretty good fails :-)

Background is a tricky thinkg. It is very hard to control. There is not much you can do if the background is busy with people etc. Just have to make the timing spot on, but is that timing the best for the subject...

you talk about being aware of the background .Have you considered the very distracting "white" house in your video?
@ForsgardPeter

Yes, I have. i once removed it and viewers wanted it back. It has been in the background for years. I try to keep it as dim as possible.
