It’s helpful to know what amount of these fruits are serving sizes. Ppl need to go online and know exactly how much of these fruits, based on the rest of the meal they are having, is appropriate. You mentioned 1cup of grapes and the GI which is helpful. Unfortunately, ppl who are not savvy in portion sizes may possibly eat more of these fruits than the appropriate and portioned. This was extremely well presented. However, ppl who are not aware of portion sizes and GI levels can have the tendency to overeat on these. Thank you for sharing this information. Most diabetic and pre diabetic patients have no clue to how important this information is and how just small changes, concentrated on portions is so powerful !🙏🏽🙏🏽

My new favorite Dr! At 47 I just learned I was at risk for type-1 and am worried because at 14 years ago I lost consciousness and learned it was due to "low" blood sugar and was diagnosed as hypoglycemic. Now I'm on a very challenging quest to control them both.

Great video Dr Joe. It’s a real struggle being a diabetic. A constant struggle to fight cravings. I wish someone would come up with a complete meal for us diabetics, that contains all the necessary vitamins, minerals, and proteins etc., the avoid all the guess work involved. I’ve had type 2 diabetes for many years now, and I’m just sick of it. When I see my family and friends eat things that I used to love, I give in, and then I regret it later. I just wish we didn’t have to eat. 😞

Dr.Joe i really enjoyed your video and opened my eyes to fruits i consume believing they were allright, such as watermelon, cranberries, Dates, Cantaloupes. I do wish at the same time you have given the healthy alternatives. To my understanding (and now i am doubtfull since what i was doing was fine and now learnt i was incorrect), one can eat raspberries and Grapefruit & Lemons. Dr. Joe can you acknowledge and verify this? Please and THANK YOU!!!

Thanks for a wonderful presentation I love fruits I prefer to eat fruits rather than cooked food but I can't not since my diabetes diagnosis. I don't trust the glycemic index to determine if I should eat a particular food or not Foods that are low on the glycemic index can still spike my glucose over 180 in an hour..NOT GOOD. I prefer to to use my glucose meter to tell me what to eat and what not to eat .

I love watermelon so much until I take a chance on it raising my blood sugar levels! And it does! But it goes back down! I now rice! Grits! Macaroni and cheese! Bread! Sodas! Potatoes! Cake! I watch those kind of foods! But watermelon, I will eat it this summer every chance I get! It’s natural for our blood sugar levels to rise after we eat ! Especially fruits, and sweet drinks! And starchy foods with no fiber in them! Stop eating so much sweets, and drinking sweet drinks and the things that turn into sugar in our bodies, and the Ac- 1 will get better! It’s simple mathematics! Less sugar put in the body will help the body heal!
