OK I got some Bedrock sandals from one of your videos and they are also basically what I am wearing all summer! I haven't done a hike in them (too buggy here) but they fit so well. I almost returned them but once I got the fit right they've been awesome. Also, the summer hiking pants line at Athleta is so good. Their Trekkie North Joggers are incredible. I used to hike in cotton yoga pants and no longer.. I feel so much cooler and more comfortable. I'd also love to see an updated favorite hiking clothes video!

Glad you love the Bedrocks! They're my most used shoe in summer, that's for sure! The Trekkie North Joggers are another great option. Athleta really makes some great hiking clothes. I can't go in there too often because I end up wanting everything 😂

Great list, thanks for sharing. I use a 33L Osprey daypack, a bit big for summer, but great to double as a summer overnight, and perfect for winter day hikes. I am too cheap to have two. I also love my Instinct Solar. I think you convinced me to get some bedrock sandals. +1 for a fixed blade knife, great for splitting wood. I use Moraknivs. I carry Sam splints rafting and have thought about carrying one hiking. See you outside!

Amanda, you not only have great taste in gear, you have amazing sensibilities for a younger person, which usually only comes with many years of trial and error, LOL! 😂 I also have scoliosis (lateral) from birth and compounded by several bad car accidents. I'll be 69 in a couple of weeks and am going on my first UL backpacking overnight in the Central Cascades. I couldn't get my base weight under 10 lbs. but got it down to under 14 (down from 25). I'm trying the GG Mariposa for the first time. I sold my Gregory Deva 70L to take 3 lbs. off my pack weight. Glad to see I'm not the only one who carries a fixed blade knife! I have the Rainier Knives Fastpak EDC, only 2 oz. with a linen handle, sabre grind and micarta sheath. I fashioned it into a neck knife with paracord and a couple of fisherman's knots. Great for hiking on the trail!

Cool overview of general hiking gear you're liking. I also like to hike in sandals (when I'm not worried about snakes 😬) but I'm in love with my Earth Runners. Thanks for another great video! I am in Ephesus turkey right now and I spend every single minute in my Patagonia sun hoodie! It’s indispensable on trips like this as well as canoe trips and hiking. Watching the video made me wonder if I need another one!? Also, it’s great to see someone else that wears sandals hiking. I’ve been wearing mine for 20 years all over North Africa, the Rockies, canoeing in the great lakes… I would never switch. Yes I have gotten a few cuts and scrapes over the years but the pros far outweigh the cons!

Garmin makes GPS devices that also have the InReach technology. You can have 1 device that is both a GPS and a satellite communicator. The InReach Mini that I showed in the video is only a satellite communicator.

Hi, from Colorado! I'm not a sandal fan. I get jittery with exposed toes. What does Nick like for footwear when he is not in his Bedrocks? Also, is the electrolyte product widely available?
@amanda.outside

You can get the electrolytes on Amazon and then through the company website directly. The company is Redmond and they make some great products. They are a local Utah company, so I have a store nearby where I usually buy them. Other than the Bedrock sandals, Nick wears Vivobarefoot shoes and he also has some heavy duty hunting boots by the brand Crispi that he loves.

sandals "can be controversial" ... YEP, you lost me at the sandals. But wait ... I did watch a little of the Garmin watch. I have a Garmin Quatix since 12/2020. I had an Instinct briefly, but it did not seem very substantial although I am a huge fan of Garmin and have other Garmin devices. Still ... all should do their own research. ***Edit I live in semi rural NW Montana ... since 2/1994. My property and adjacent state land that I walk on (game trails) have rocks, downfall, uneven terrain.

Laughing at people who use backpacks like that, "savotta" makes much better gear, stuff that actually is strong. And all that other gear is just almost purely useless, I bet you also look where you are going, so why you need to know your alttitude? Hiking has become cringe fest of people who has too much money and no idea what they are doing.
