Hi friends! I know this video is longer than my usual videos but there was so much information I wanted to share. I cut it down as much as I could. What are your bunnies favourite pellets? The next video topics will be (not in order) - Turbos ear surgery - Turbo and Bunmis diet - Odourless litter set up - Easy enrichment ideas for lazy owners - Another day in the life - Rebonding after a break up - The problem with cute faces

You helped a bunch I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL! I have two rabbits (unbonded sadly: one of them is very aggressive) Muffin and char. muffin is currently on origins, Char is on oxbow a combination of the two types of pellets. The Origins was a recommendation from my vet as I think she had an intolerance to the young oxbow rabbit feed. I figured I would keep it like this forever but you have given me the incentive to try and ween her onto oxbow. I did my research before getting them and was set on oxbow but poor muffin had sloppy poops for ages. The person I got them off said they didn't feed them anything which was strange and they had chunks of carrots everywhere. They didn't seem like good carers and picked my first rabbit up so horribly (and continuously) he now has issues with it. The only issue I have is that I did not rescue. I was super prepared to have rabbits with proper caring and I pride myself that I have made no really bad mistakes thus far and constantly watch videos on "beginning rabbit owner mistakes" which all have the same things in it lol. I would have liked to rescue a rabbit and have always said I will never buy a dog or cat off of breeders but never thought the same with rabbits and I will never buy off a breeder again. Thanks a bunch for helping me with my decision but what on earth am I going to do with 6kg of origins.

Hopefully Oxbow will one day decide to branch out to Europe as well. The brands they sell in local stores here are (somewhat) lacking. Thank you so much for this helpful video, I'm doing all the research I can as I hope to adopt two bunnies in the near future=D

I find that soybean as an ingredient for pellets is a highly debated topic and many say its unhealthy for buns. For that reason I tried switching to the oxbow garden select, which is a popular alternative that doesn't have soybeans in it. Unfortunately my bun HATED the strong taste of herbs like thyme and rosemary so I'm still using the adult essentials with him. I wonder what your opinion on this is? Also, I find that with pellets, a lot of people focus on the amount based on teaspoons and cups but not many take into consideration the fact that different pellet brands have different sizes for their pellets. Take the oxbow garden select for an example, it is bigger in size and lighter than the oxbow adult essentials. This means that in an 1/8 of a cup, you can fit a lot more of the adult essentials which are much more compact and small, and the total mass you are giving your bunny will be a lot more than if you were to take an 1/8 cup of garden select. For people stressing over how much pellets they are giving to their bunny, it is best to just weigh the amount instead. This was a very informative video and your hair is looking really pretty!!

Hii!! Totally understandable that they would choose essentials over the "healthier" one haha. My bunnies will only eat the Organic Bounty if there's no others available. As in, if I offer them a mix, they pick out all the others first and then will eat Organic Bounty at the end..but they still eat it! Does yours completely ignore Garden Select or does he eat it eventually? Depending on how strict his diet is, you could mix the pellets like I do? I know what you mean with the amounts. I think the brands use tbsp or cups because it's easier for people to measure or eyeball. It also doesn't need to be the exact same amount each time. A few grams difference won't affect their diet. The reason I didn't like the size of the Selective ones is because it means they only get a few pellets and they finish them waayyy too quickly lol

@@BunsBestLife My bunny used to eat the garden select after realising there were no other options but its a big mental battle lol and he just completely ignored them after several days of "forcing" him to eat it. Its the same with hay, even if there are no other options, if the hay isn't sweet or fresh enough for him he will simply refuse to eat it. He's not a bunny that compromises much so if I mix the pellets it will not work lol. I was actually tempted to buy the science selective knowing that it is also a popular alternative to oxbow but the size is a bit ridiculous haha

I am feeding the science selective naturals. My rabbits really like them, but after a few tries i started buying the ones for guinea pigs. Not because i have guinea pigs too, but the ingredians are the same, and the pellets for guinea pigs are smaller :)

Great video. Totally agree with u on the Peters quality 😆. I use Oxbow & a Hygain Zero mix (yeah a horse feed) as I find it great for my Jersey wooly's coat & he was eating those when he was a baby. My buns only get 10g of pellets every 2nd day, their main diet is oaten hay & bowl of fresh vegies. I have the Burgess mint pellets, I use those as treats only every now & then. The big select pellets u have in video I got some as a small sample pack so used those as treats until they ran out but dont need to buy more as not needed.

What I've learned about pet foods (applies to cat and dog food as well) is that if the brand states "this is somethingfree!" it usually means it is filled with something else that is considered not that good either. I don't really know if I want to feed my rabbit soybean hulls and soybean meal as second and third most ingredients on the list. Second thing I've learned is that the more honest and transparent a brand is, the better (in naming exact ingredients for example). My baby rabbit was let go from the breeder with the advice to feed her Versele Laga Cuni Junior. I'm not really sure about the ingredients tho. Not bad, but there is better. Third thing I've learned is expensive doesn't mean it's premium. Premium is not a standardized quality measurement in pet food, anyone can put "premium" on the package. BunnyNature RabbitDream (German brand) on the other hand looks really amazing, ingredients look fully natural for what a rabbit could be eating in the nature.

The ingredient lists on every one of those pellets shocks and horrifies me. It really reminds me of why my buns are pellet free because all of them are like pumping your kid full of McDs and expecting them to be healthy. None of them are a good option as part of a buns diet. Perhaps as a very occasional treat.. perhaps. Although I would not even do that

The grain free natural selective is VERY hard to find and the farm origin's are too and my bun did love them but now runs away from them. Ive wasted so much money trying all the pellets. I now have a 4yr old bun i adopted with a poop issue and need fibre pellets but struggle to find the right one to help cause the ones with "high fibre" still make her have diarrhoea. Stay away from jack rabbit, its a meat rabbit pellet and its why my girl is very overweight
