Shock pliers are an invaluable tool. Can’t believe I ever built an RC without them

You should get one of those shock vacuums. Game changer.

One suggestion I had to include as I venture into this build is to buy some grease. I wasn't sure whether to buy lithium or silicon grease and didn't realize the kit didn't include any
@RoadsideRC

You don't really need grease for any parts on this car - I think that is why they didn't include it.

How do you adjust the length of the wheelbase? I just got a body and I need to lengthen the wheelbase a few mm for the wheels to center in the wheel well
@RoadsideRC
6 ай бұрын
Hi there! I had to do this myself. 1) Move the spacers that are around the lower control arms. As you move them, you will lengthen or shorten the wheelbase. 2) Reduce rear toe-in. As you do this, it will lengthen the effective wheelbase.

Can also use a folded shop towel inside locking pliers for shocks
@RoadsideRC
Ай бұрын
NO!!!! I also did it this way for YEARS. After swapping to proper shock pliers, I 100% DO NOT recommend the shop towel method anymore. Basher shocks, crawler shocks = maybe. Drift shocks = NO.

Can you change the body it comes with ?
@RoadsideRC

This video is for the kit. The kit does not come with a body. The RTR comes with a body. Both come with a universal body post system so you can mount any body you want.

Great video..toe pills were a little confusing, but your explanation cleared that up. I think the instructions need more detail. Also, rod ends seem super tight, which doesn't allow the suspension to move freely.

Glad the video was helpful! I didn't worry about the pin rotating - as long as the arm moves freely on the pin.

I took a drill bit the same size of the pin hole and ran in and out it really smoothed the holes and pins went in it changed the game for me

Looking like you need to build the car with the aluminum servo horn right away. Just about every RDS at our local track strips the plastic servo horn very quickly
@RoadsideRC
Жыл бұрын
Yeah, we have talked about that before. I still don't understand how people are stripping the servo horns. Mine has still been great for months now on the RTR.

Where did you find the alternate setup sheet? I can't find it on the Redcat website. I'm trying to dial in my RDS.

I was building my Yokomo when the Redcat RTR came out and I was missing the Vanquish Crawler style kits with parts bags that will be used for the page or pages you'll be working on. I had to really keep everything organized so I didn't lose track of sprues or fasteners. It looks like the Redcat uses that crawler method for assembly? I also agree 💯 that shock pliers are invaluable. The pillow ball press they usually have is super helpful, and anyone that has built a crawler kit will love them for link building👍. I use a cheap DIY trick for shock building. I take one of the small Amazon shipping boxes and use my body reamer (or drill bit) to punch holes in the side of the box. You can make them slightly undersized to grip the shock body while you fill it and can lest them rest. I use the side of the box for holes because it usually stays more square than the box flaps
@RoadsideRC

Yes - the Redcat instructions are a little more intuitive than some other kits - I think you would appreciate that. Great tip on the box usage for the shocks! Thanks!

@@RoadsideRC You bet, thanks for the helpful videos! Only thing to be careful with the boxes is their weight. Watch the elbows while the shock bodies are uncapped 😅
