Your videos are very calm, entertaining and super educational. Just got your video on my feed the other day and I’ve now watched several. I’ve fixed stuff for awhile and wanted to get into PS5 repair. Your videos are eye openers and you’re very methodical and logical in your repair process. Thank you and hopefully you get a million subscribers soon.

@ToltecMerc I’ve been watching a lot of your videos lately and I must say they are very educational and entertaining! I was wondering if this is solely a hobby or if you make a living fixing gaming systems for folks? And if the latter, how would one go about sending one in?

Hey sir, I watched a good amount of your videos over the past day after discovering your page while searching for a resolution to an issue I am having with my PS5...beeps and then does not boot. I saw you commented to another person here that you do this for a hobby. I am in a bit of a bind and would greatly prefer to send you my system and pay your for your time if you were so willing, but if that is not an option, I would love to consult you a bit if that would be possible and give this a go myself (not my preferred option). As of now, the system has never been opened and the tamper seal is in place. I sent you an email. Either way, I've become a subscriber. Thank you for your time and the videos, your skill and knowledge is appreciated.

Good job on the tweezer golf m8. 400 holes in one 🤣. What Temps are you using on your hot air to flow the balls after reballing, and to put the Southbridge back on?
@ToltecMerc
11 ай бұрын
I flow the balls onto the chip with 400C at an airflow of 30 on my Quick 861DW. If I'm installing a chip with leaded solder balls and using the pre-heater, I might use 375C with max airflow from above. The part should settle into place rather quickly. Thanks for watching!

Great patience, but why don't you use universal stencil , to reball SB? You can hide unneeded holes by metal tape. You can save much of your time !

@orion310591RS

It can happen, that stencil hole is one size, but you have solder balls of larger size that can finish job. Then you cannot use stencil.
@martinnash007

Good job. Another console rescued. Just out of interest, why do you reball the chip, instead of putting the solder balls onto the motherboard? I would have thought that reballing the motherboard would be less stressful on the chip as it doesn't have to be heated to high temps so often.
@ToltecMerc

I'm sure you could reball the board but I don't know that it would be easier. I have done that with some smaller ICs but nothing with this many balls.

Great Repair and Video! I've watched several of your videos, and you don't seem to remove any solder mask when you're wicking BGA IC's or board pads. If you don't mind me asking, what's your technique? The only good thing about merged solder balls, is more experience. Thank You.

What temp do you end up on with the preheater when removing a southbridge?
@ToltecMerc

I usually stop with the preheater in the 200-220C range. Of course the board temp is much lower. I try to get the board to 100-110C.
