The Amc Pacer was introduced in 1975. Was produced from 1975-1980. Sold 280,000 units in five years. 1975 over 72,000 units and 1976 116,000. Production did declinevin later years of this model.

Nobody cares about California emission vehicles . Why ? The rest of us could get the better power trains and manual gear boxes . So while Californians may hate say a 305 powered Corvette saddled with a automatic transmission and elsewhere you could get the hotter options . This has been going on for years . In 77 you had to get the Trans Am or Formula with the L80 403 Oldsmobile engine and not the hotter W72 T/A 6.6 performance option . Also the Trans in 80 and 81 was stuck with the 305 Chevrolet . Screw California.

It's frustrating when regulations impact the available options. California emission standards can definitely limit the choices for car enthusiasts.

This video falls flat of a stellar performance. I think whoever created this should do a lot more investigation before they create another video. Most of these vehicles are not hated. Some may not be favorites but that's a far cry from being hated. In fact some of the vehicles listed such as the El Camino were very popular.

Agree, he totally missed the mark on the Boss 302, it wasn't meant to compete against the other big block cars, same reason the Camaro had a Dz302, they were built for Trans-am racing with a 5.0L limit.

so you talk about the iron duke 3rd gen camaro, but show a pretty decent Z28 with a v8? What a crappy attempt at bad mouthing it. Camaro sold so few of those 4 bangers they might as well have not existed at all. However, they did sell a v6 for the entire run of the 3rd gen, and those maxed out at 135HP. m

The Pacer design team wanted it to be an AWD mini van. In later models a 410 ci motor was available. Corvair finally cured safety issues in 1969 model. Mustang 2 body will fit on top of original Bronco chassis. Wheelbase is identicay & a manual tran shifter lines up in Mustang 2 body shell. 1974 was a horrible smog & seatbelt interlock year. Electric fuel pump impact shut offs also sucked.

Proclaiming these as hated is more emotion than few could muster, most seem to disappoint in performance come from early attempts at emissions control. Ralph Nader's condemnation of the Corsair has been challenged with accounts it's performance wasn't atypical of other cars of the period. The pinto was much more alarming than hated for it's major safety issue. The Pacer and the Cruiser PT had particularly good first sales, so obviously there were fans. Why is there intercuting of cars not part of the tirade?

2:11: That 's a V8 not a four-banger. "Iron Duke" referred to the name of the 4-cyl engine, not the Camaro variant. 3:38: The Mustang Boss 302 was so powered to comply with racecar standards, which limited engine size to around 300 cid.

350. Challengers ran 340s. They made it so Ford couldn't run 351s. NASCAR did the same thing to Chrysler, when they limited to 355. By then Chrysler's were 360s, and couldn't be run. But then, NASCAR changed the rules every time Chevy wasn't winning.

Why would you show a iron duke video with a v-8 video? Are you just lazy? The iron duke Camaro was for a paticular buyer who understood that regardess of engine choice, the same 55 mph MAXIMUM speed limit made the 4 cylinder as fast a V-8 - but at a much better fuel economy!
