One tip is to wash your bathtub and shower after every use. This will prevent stains, grime, build-up and make it very easy to clean. So a quick scrub and the dry everything with a towel or microfiber and you're set.

I have no qualms. I’ll choose clean floors over friendships any day. LOL just kidding But I do have a three fold solution for the awkwardness 1.) let them know your house rules in advance that way they can prepare (it minimizes the embarrassment of mismatching socks, holy socks and stinky shoes.) 2.) have a basket with slippers available for them to use around your house (in case they wear sandles/flip Flops or don’t want to walk in their socks) you can find a pack of 20 for super cheap at Amazon or ikea. And keep a sharpie marker handy. If they’re regular visitors, they can write their names on the bottom and they’ll always have a pair when they come over. And 3.) have a deodorizing foot spray readily available. Nobody should be embarrassed by stinky feet. Try it. Everyone I know appreciates my system so much when they come over.

It's the same in Sweden, it is a special stick. But it was more common when I was a child to do it that way. I do remenber my son thought it was fun to do when he was a kid. These days some rugs go into a big washing mashines and some has to have a special wash without whater. We also placed the carpets/rugs our in the snow for a while and could hit them with that special stick to get the dust out.

Back when I was growing up in Lithuania both our household and those of my relatives' all had a special stick with kind of an intertwining ornament :D One could always recognize it, a very specific stick. We'd also use it to beat the carpet in snow, to get it extra clean. I always hated doing all this, so now only have one small rug in the whole house, in my son's room for him to play on. Carpets are such dust sponges...

To answer your question on showering from here in Australia 🇦🇺, most people will shower at night, every night but some will shower both morning and night, I personally like to Shower at night so I’m fresh and clean to hop into bed, what’s the use of showering in the morning when all you’ve done is sleep all night Lol 😂, I know my friends in the USA shower in the morning but I just couldn’t do that after spending a day out in our hot 🥵 summer climate here. Further tip from Norway on drying clothes outside: if you hang the clothes over two of the bars instead of one there is way less of a crease noticable when your clothes have dried. And putting wool in the show to give it a quick refresh between washes

Such a fun video! I hang my bras and cotton shirts inside (I am an apartment dweller and have no outside space) to dry. While the shirts are still a little damp, I take them down and air fluff to remove wrinkles and hang back up. Yes, that is time consuming but so worth it to me to prevent shrinkage.
