On Neville.. he was crap at magic.. for the same reason Ron was shite at magic. HE DIDN'T HAVE HIS OWN WAND for most of the story. He was using his dad's wand. As Rons' case proves and pretty much every conversation about or with the Wand Shop Dude, they say how wands choose their owner and only one (except elder). So.. Neville was still busting out fair bit of magic with his dad's wand that wasn't tuned to him. So really.. Neville's dad was still protecting Nevie, even after their fates. Neville practiced harder than anyone but hermione because he had to work harder due to crap magic alignment. Soon as he got his actual wand he started owning

If the Dursleys were bad because Harry was a horcrux wouldn't the same be true of Ron and Hermione as they were equally close?
@shellshocktm
4 жыл бұрын
I suppose there's two things that explains it better. The Dursleys spent a much longer time with Harry around and throughout his entire infancy and childhood where his young baby/toddler soul didn't have a strong enough presence allowing the Voldemort part of him to have a stronger effect. As Harry grew older and more sentient, his own soul's complexity finally started suppressing the voldy soul more as he became more of a 'person'. Also, we can see the mood of the books get darker over the years with the biggest fears and insecurities of Ron and Hermione getting worse. We could see the final full manifestation of Ron's insecurity when he sees the image of Harry and Hermione kissing when he's about to destroy Slytherin's locket.
@fitzsimmons6064

Harry's mood probably influenced the spell. The Dursley's were already bad to him from the start, so Harry's depression and anger affected them and made them worse, while Harry had a positive connection with Ron and Hermione, practically from the start.

Here's a theory I came up with... Firstly, why did James become so nice after being a bully throughout school? My answer: he was, like Dudley in Order of the Phoenix, kissed by a dementor. JK Rowling, I believe, has mentioned that when Dudley was kissed by the dementor, he was forced to live out the tortures, he had forced his victims to endure, himself. It would stand to reason that, as James was an incredibly gifted wizard, he would have encountered a dementor at some point in time, or even a bogart. The encounter would have him kissed, and he would have to live out the pain he had put not only Snape, but others he undoubtedly bullied, as well. However, that's just my theory... my film theory!
@leventebardossy5962

I can't imagine where James would have met a Dementor. And his Bogart can't be one if he never met one. I prefer the idea of Lily changing him. Lily, although mostly a beloved person, as a 'Mudblood', may have known the feeling of being bullied.

Actually that theory doesn’t fit Cannon. As not one of his roommates his affected by his being a horcrux. They are constantly with him for 6 yrs and nothing. It is also repeatedly stated that Petunia had hatred for witchcraft and wizardry because Lily was a witch and she was not. McGonagall also says “They are the worst sort of muggles.” This is before Harry is even in the house.

It does seem to fit canon, as the Dursley’s has the most exposure to an immature and unrestricted horocrux Harry, while Harry’s budding magic gave a bit more resistance while in school. And the mere 6 school years were not enough time to compare with the unbridled 13 years of unchecked influence.
@matthewrosenthal753
4 жыл бұрын
J EY It Does NOT fit cannon at all. As the Dursley’s hatred of magic and it’s users existed long before Harry’s birth. We are told that they are horrible people prior to any exposure to Harry. Dumbledore even admits later on that he knew he was sentencing Harry to a childhood of abuse but did it anyway because he didn’t want Harry’s fame to go to his head. A fame Harry would never have liked because it would always have reminded him that his parents were dead. The Dursley’s were horrible people. Also Slytherin’s Locket affect Ron, Hermione, and even a Harry almost immediately. Harry’s soul was always stronger that the piece of Voldemort’s that latched on to him as it was one half of one seventh of Voldemort’s Soul and Harry’s Soul was always whole and complete also Lily’s protection would have kept the Souls separate.
@xianartman
4 жыл бұрын
It is amazing how well this explains canon as the Dursley’s were always so print proper jerks, but the Harry horocrux turned them into outright abusers. The canon of a horocrux is the amplification of all malcontent after all.

I have also seen fanfics that took the "Dursleys were poisoned against Harry" as that some muggles can suffer a magically induced phobia - that is, living close to magic will influence them to be scared, and not just because magic is scary, but because magic has a negative effect. Other alternatives is that either Harry or the Durleys were cursed, which often comes up in Manipulative/evil!Dumbledore fics. I am fond of the not-a-villain!Slytherin. I find the black-and-white attitude JKR seemed to have about Slytherin House depressing - barring redeeming a few favourites, the whole house seems to full of bad seeds. Fanfic writers are very good at poking at the holes in canon material, and the mostly bad image of Slytherin House is something I feel was badly done. The Harry-Can-Never-Die one is a great one for crossover fanfics. Given that I spend a lot of time in the MCU fandom, it can be interesting there, where there are long-lived if not immortal characters present. I have also seen some interesting crossovers in fandoms like Dragon Age, GOT/ASOIAF and Mass Effect.

I always like the theory about Slytherin being a decent guy. At the time when he was alive, magical people were being hunted and burned alive, kids being killed... etc. He couldn't risk a family like the dursleys sending a mob to Hogwarts to kill all of the children. Of course, fanatics and lunatics will always take words and twist them and take any teachings and twist it to be evil. We had christian crusades, Muslim extremists, and many... many more examples of taking something meant to be good, and making it evil. I'm willing to bed Slytherin was just a normal guy. Witchery is an archaic world of myth, but it's not that far away in history in the large sense. Every. Knot. Is. A. Spell. Edit: this folk tradition is so widespread and entrenched in Celtic and Norse life, that the folk spells of binding in knots were still even known by Puritan children that came to the new world.

It could have other secret schools, or people who graduated there, donations to keep Slytherin house (although for me, it's not really important why it's kept alive, I'd rather see actions to make Slytherins NOT turn evil), and a company of friends like the Marauders who we actually SEE creating their betrayer, like Wormtail is described.

I do like the Theory the slithering was the house of wizard who where wealthy and the reason they stay as a house was because the students all grown up will contribute economically to maintain the wizard school. the theory of Nevil being the chosen one and not Harry it's a FILM THEORY and CUT!

Did the creator of this list even read the books? Also, are there people on staff who fact check, like some kind of editor? Or just a person who is familiar with the material? Bizarre list.

Neville Longbottom is NOT the chosen one. The prophecy states the the one with the power to Vanquish the dark lord will be born as the Seventh month dies.... that means the end of the month. July is the 7th month and has 31 days. Neville was born on July 30th. Harry was born on July 31st or as the Seventh month dies.

So close to being right. The prophecy said Voldemort would choose his rival. Voldemort chose Harry the day of the month doesn't matter.

matsujonen You are so wrong. The Prophecy says that Voldemort would tell you who the one is. But it also says that the One would be Born as the Seventh month dies. This is part of why it was either Harry or Neville as both sets of parents had defied Voldemort 3 times. A month dies on its last day and no other. Neville was born on July 30th one day before Harry. Voldemort only me new the beginning of the prophecy....”The one with the power to Vanquish the Dark Lord approaches, born to those who have trice defied him born as the SEVENTH MONTH DIES” That’s the only part he knew. He did not choose Harry, because of Harry being a halfblood like himself but because Harry was the only one that fit the part of the Prophecy that he knew. Harry was born on July 31.... as the Seventh month dies.

Matthew Rosenthal Voldemort chose Harry because he was a half-blood like himself. It’s stated in the book and Rowling said it in an interview.

2 out of 12 make a little sense. (Amos Diggory's "silence" and Dumbledore's socks) The rest of them, pure crap. No evidence at all, you're just throwing words together.

The slithering one is childish Slytherin might’ve fostered the most dark wizards but we had Merlin also I don’t think that Salazar Slytherin was a bad man Think about it wizards and witches were being prosecuted and killed so it makes sense for some people too only one pure bloods in their school not in defense of Salazar Slytherin but push some insight into you I believe he was just misguided

Surely you didn't think I was going to keep my filthy muggle father's name, no I fashioned myself a new name. A name I knew that wizards everywhere would one day fear to speak when I became the greatest sorcerer who ever lived-Chamber of secrets

These were some of the stupidest theories I've ever come across, and I've read the Harmonian theories on alchemy and mirroring. There are some serious reading comprehension fails here.

Easy to look at someone else's work and say what you would have done differently. Could come up with your own world and the stories to fill them instead.
