BTW the graphics is totally okay as a AAA game, but if we take in count that it was made for an outdated (its already 6 years old btw) handheld console... its straight up stunning. Emulating it on pc is beautiful (switch does 1080p 30fps docked, mods on pc allow higher fps). In terms of the world is "empty". It isn't, but less animals are spawning (compared to botw for example) due to optimization, and if you are running through a forest too fast for example, then the game have no time to load in the animals, and you might think that they are extinct... Also the shrines are great... but using any item/block as a moving plaform with ultrahand +recall kinda breaks 40% of the shrines(i finished them all, the rest are mostly blessing shrines, or fighting ones).

TOTK is a clear 9/10 for me. What draws it down from the clear 10/10 is clumsy building mechanics (because it leans so hard into building stuff), frame rate issues due to poor hardware (graphics are good for what the hardware is.. but I imagine this fun engine and graphics on better hardware). Story, world, gameplay and so much more is hands down top tier, amazing. BUT it is also just sometimes so frustratingly difficult… heck, even Dark Souls is easier sometimes. I would never hand this to a kid after I saw my friends kid just spend all his time just trying to get out of the starting areas and never gotten to enjoy getting good. It is so unforgiving as a game that it has no slack at all for players who just wants to enjoy the story aspect and exploration, or do goofy stuff… because goofy stuff will get you killed. I am by no means saying the game should hold a players hand.. because most things can be solved by just churning your brain a little a bit and understanding the logic of things to solve it (remove weapons whenever one of the daily thunderstorms hit you for example, but it could use fewer rain and thunderstorms.. the weather is even more moody than in England). However, some enemies can suck it… and I am talking about you stupid red blobby eye hands.

The graphics in this game are beautiful. The sound design intentional, haunting and impeccable, even without direct score from Koji Kondo. The FPS is admittedly bad, but we've long since known that's been a problem of the switch's hardware, not the game itself. The plot being reflective of BotW can be admittedly redundant at times. For me, the Wind Temple reminded me so much of Vah Medoh it wasn't funny. But other times, seeing Zelda's past and the dedication and lives of characters new and old genuinely shook me. Anyone who thinks the game is just "reused" assests clearly doesn't understand how much TotK revamped its physics engine, how much new content is designed with new shrines, new temples, an entire sky and underground, entire landscapes changed, character designed upgraded. It's a sequel game on the same hardware for pete's sake. If any game you can compare it to, I'd compare it to Super Mario Galaxy 2. Amazing 9/10 game that could have been DLC, but quickly became such a huge project that it HAD to become its own game.

I kind of do agree with 'necktledaddy' over his comment (apart from the bad graphics stuff) because I do prefer many of the older LoZ games compared to Botw and totk. Yes both of these open world games are absolutely beautiful and have a nice story/good side quests, but games like majoras mask or windwaker or any of these older games were quite truly amazing for their time and had some bloody good music which I still listen to day by day and there was just something totally different and magical about them. I suppose many older fans who have played this series since childhood may not be as big a fan of these new open-world Zelda games as some other people who are recently discovering this franchise as I for one prefer the windwaker, but my final opinion will be that all LoZ games are truly amazing and in my eyes none of them are terrible.

Some of these are absolutely hilarious. Some people just will never appreciate how much of a masterpiece TotK really is. Whether you're a hardcore fan or (like me) just picked up the game because it looked cool and you needed something new to play, I think we can all agree that TotK is one of the greatest games this generation, possibly even of all time. Try showing these "reviewers" what an *actually* bad game looks like. Like bro, you can't judge a game by it's graphics alone. The art style is amazing and it's a feat they've got it running on the Switch at all. everything is reused? Hmmm... new Depths, new Sky Islands, new abilities, new... I could go on for ages, but I don't wanna make this comment too long as I get carried away with adding detail **very** easily. Great video, really enjoying it! Also, only 115 hours? Aw, that's cute. I would argue that the 'open world'iness is less in TOTK, than on BOTW. There are a LOT more linear blocks in this game (if you go to the wrong person in the wrong order) to where BOTW had almost NOTHING keeping you from going in whatever order you wanted. Case in point, who else in here was totally miffed when you went all the way to hatena and found out that you couldn't do anything there yet because you hadn't done something already with Robie and Josha at lookout landing??!? 😡😡😡

Indeed, tho for me it happened with the Korok forest; turns out the game really, _really_ doesn't want you there until, well, it wants you there. And I happened to really want to go there when it felt like the "mid" point of the game while the game thinks that's the end stretch before the final boss. The result? Several days of gameplay in which I did nothing but aimlessly walking around and nothing happened because, despite this game having a lot more of everything than in BotW, the Forest region is the one exception and is mostly barren. Sadly, that stretch tainted a bit my opinion of the game. Still total Game of the Year and one of the best games I've played, but definitely below Breath of the Wild (and Odyssey for that matter).

That hits the ear SO wrong, like "B!tch, we're not intimate!" After the events of BotW, the only thing Purah should be allowed to call Link is "Sir." Also, she's supposed to be touted as some genius, but she comes off as an idiot in almost every interaction. The Shiekah Slate was also renamed for no reason that I can see other than that Purah is so undeservedly full of herself. I would rather play through both games with Navi annoying the bejesus out of me for the whole journey than to have one interaction with Purah in a fixed location. Agreed, BotW for me hits the sweet spot between content and size: it felt like it was perfectly designed for me in that something happened exactly when I was about to get bored of exploring and, conversely, the quest, boss or whatever I found, was just challenging or fun enough for me to want to do some more exploring afterward. TotK on the other hand, has too much, of everything. Almost three times more space to explore, more than thrice the number of overworld bosses, higher density of enemy camps, more koroks plus three other non-quests related to exploration (Addison, Koltin and that moon guy that keeps getting captured by monsters), almost twice the number of actual quests, etc. Mind you, it's pretty damn fun all there's to do, but I felt tired of the game a lot more often than BotW.

Most of my criticisms have more to do with not enjoying sandbox/craft type games. I do hope the next game blends the old with the current formula. The Gollum was in reference to the recently released Lord of the Rings game with Gollum as the player character, it was genuinely a bad game and reviews reflect that. I was expecting funny bad reviews, but some of these reviews were somehwat understandable, especially the ones that mention wanting elements from old Zelda back. It is understandable for fans of a series to feel very alienated when something they like a lot changes into something that isn't made for them, e.g. how the Final Fantasy series has pretty much alienated all of its JRPG fans despite being a pioneer of the genre. TotK is not as bad, but going in as a fan of Zelda dungeons and puzzle solving it is understandable that you'd be disappointed by TotK which leans very heavily into the building part of the game. The actual dungeons were nowhere near as engaging as Zelda games of past either, still a small step up from botw however. I think those reviews were justified. I also agree that the whole formula of doing shrine after shrine being the main gameplay loop being very repetitive. I personally would like a nice well-structured linear adventure back, but perhaps in a big open world with main ofthe (edit: probably meant something like "the remainder of the") new exploration elements. The graphics complainers were dumb though, what were they expecting when they bought a Switch and a Switch game? Though I doubt the PS fanboy reviewers actually own a Switch or TotK.

None of the reviews were justified and Nintendo hasn't alienated anyone except an insignificant, unimportant minority of whiners who want to act the gatekeepers yet never actually understood any Zelda game they played, specially the first one. "I personally would like a nice well-structured linear adventure back, but perhaps in a big open world with main ofthe new exploration elements." @@julianmarqm8005 It's hard to not see that Skyward Sword's dungeons were so much more well decorated and intertwined with the themes of the puzzles. Sure, SS wasn't perfect, combat sucked. But the dungeons were fantastic and the dungeons have always been what got many of us to play Zelda games. Botw and Totk are great sandboxes to play around and have fun in, but not great Zelda games. It feels like two steps to the side and one step back, when it could have been three steps forward. They could have built upon what they did so well in the past while introducing all the new stuff, instead of doing all these new things and lazily slapping in elements of the old stuff not to the same standard as they used to. Every dungeon in Botw was samey, not compelling to go through, with a very similar boss at the end. Totk was an improvement but was a shadow of what the Zelda team has made in the past. Every dungeon was find 5 random puzzles, come back to beat the boss. None of the puzzles built on each other, none introduced novel ideas and developed it. Wind Temple was more a task of hunting for openings around the ship and getting past a few obstacles than being a coherent dungeon. Light Temple was best, shame the temple was so drab and grey. It's based on either Egyptian or Mesopotamian temples, where are the wall carvings/paintings, statues, etc? The things that give the place meaning and character. There were some statues, but no matter how much I tried to interpret them they were like a prefab they used over and over instead of a set piece purposefully put there to tell a story of what the place used to be used for. The most we have there are the graves to tell us people were buried there and that's it. But heck, if we go back to Skyward Sword's dungeons, while the combat was a pain, the dungeon design was the best in the series. Each told a story of what the place used to be, vibrant and full of character to tell you that the place existed for a purpose for people in the world to use rather than to exist as a dungeon for the player to beat. Water temple was the worst offender. None of the puzzles had anything to do with water. Only one puzzle used water in an interesting way, that being a water bubble to close a circuit. Other than that, water was simply a gate you had to find a switch for. Drain the water to access the interactive key to unlock the boss. Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword did a better job of introducing you and making you feel attached to the world and characters before throwing you out there with a more personal quest to do. I simply did not care about any of these throwaway characters who had no purpose once you were done with their quest. Totk had so much potential with party members, characters who stick with you on the journey. Heck, they could've sat around a fire with you to eat food and talk like in many recent games (e.g. Xenoblade 3, Final Fantasy 15), bond together. But after you're done with their portion of the story the game throws these important characters away and replaces them with soulless ghosts. Such a wasted potential, and only goes to show how much the creators just did not care about these characters. They exist as fluff to give context to why you're doing a dungeon and the powers you have, not as meaningful characters who actually matter to the story. I miss partner characters like Midna, Navi or Fi because they did so much better a job of keeping you company and growing on you throughout your journey, whereas Botw and Totk just feels so huge and empty most of the time cos you pass by characters and see them so little that they don't matter. Botw and Totk are simply quantity over quality. And while I really like the new building mechanics, chemistry system, freedom, etc - they have become complacent on the things that they have been doing so well for the past 30 years. That being: world, story and dungeons. They could've made a grand open world with all the new features without having to sacrifice these things and it's such a big shame when you think about what they could have been. Botw and Totk are fun, huge sandbox worlds with lots of things to do and mess about with, but with no care to compel you to do it. There, I took the time to try and write something more coherent. Hope you like it.

@@PomuLeafEveryday You hope I like what? A pile of whiny nonsense? It's still not coherent; you're not nearly as eloquent as you seem to think you are, pal. Brevity is wit, and to wit: "what got many of us" Many of whom? The unimportant, insignificant minority of whiners? Nintendo doesn't care about you, and given all the hogwash you wrote; *they're right not to care* . "Every dungeon in Botw was samey, not compelling to go through" Mechanical/Animalistic Abominations built to prevent the apocalypse are somehow less compelling than... _mundane buildings_ . Yeah, no, you're barking at the wrong tree regardless, but specially to me if you try that: I absolutely *loved* the Divine Beasts both in concept and execution and think whoever doesn't is just a boring person... But we knew that about you already. "shame the temple was so drab and grey. It's based on either Egyptian or Mesopotamian temples, where are the wall carvings/paintings, statues, etc?" Have you actually looked at the Egyptian pyramids? _They're drab and brown_ .You need to care less about games and care more about, well, general culture I guess. And let's not pretend that you wouldn't still be whining if Nintendo had made the walls of the dungeons have more paintings. Don't know why you even try that, doesn't work in any angle. "Water temple's puzzles had nothing to do with water [proceeds to mention how water was involved with most of them three times]" What did I say about incoherence? "Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword did a better job of introducing you and making you feel attached to the world and characters before throwing you out there with a more personal quest to do." Unlike this game, where we find ruins (with OMG, murals you are pretending to like so much right now to make a point) where a sealed Ganondorf awakens, destroys everything around him, makes Zelda disappear and turns Link's arm into salami? At that point is personal preference how well each game threw you into the story. BotW is the superior game to every other Zelda game including TotK (and perhaps the best game ever made), but something TotK did better is make you care about the story right away. So stop pretending like you're making a point. You're not; you're just regurgitating nostalgia. "Heck, they could've sat around a fire with you to eat food and talk like in many recent games (e.g. Xenoblade 3, Final Fantasy 15), bond together." LMAO, right, because what an open world game needs it to pump it full of cutscenes that are nothing but padding. Specially since TotK already has three of those, which I'm sure you've whined about too. "I miss partner characters like Midna, Navi or Fi" Oh give it a rest. *Nobody* misses Navi or Fi; they're the biggest examples of "annoying video game helper" over in tv tropes. See? It's stuff like this why Nintendo is right not to care about you people. "Botw and Totk are simply quantity over quality." As said by the tasteless nonce singing the praises of Skyward Sword and Navi. "they have become complacent on the things that they have been doing so well for the past 30 years. That being: world" LMAO, now even the world in the most widely acclaimed games precisely because their open world, BotW having become a trendsetter, is bad, as said by you? Again... No, period. And literally _no_ Zelda game ever has had a groundbreaking story. Perhaps the most complex one was Ocarina of Time, and even so it was fairly simple. What are you on now? Zelda is suddenly what, Red Dead Redemption just to make a point? Who are you trying to fool? As for characters, literally the only characters anyone cares about besides you whiners are Link, Zelda and Ganondorf, and BotW gives great service to the first two, and TotK to all three. There's so much more garbage in your comment that I could laugh at too, but frankly you aren't worth my time to do it anymore than you're Nintendo's. Keep on seething, literally 97% of everyone else will keep on loving the games :)

"Removes all glitches". I actually agree. They did remove all glitches by making them features and construction options XD

I had trouble getting through the snowy area of the Great Sky Island, but that was because I couldn't find the fish for spicy meat and seafood fry. I was like, "Ooh! Callback to the Great Plateau!" but couldn't find a fish. I ended up having to brute-force my way through to some extent.

Ah, the classic overthinking that happens to all of us..! You don't need a fish, you just need to cook spicy peppers for cold resistance... :)

I think they all didn‘t finish the great sky island. The beginning was a bit rough, I wasn‘t sure what to think of it BUT: after the tutorial area it‘s awesome, one of the best games I‘ve ever played

I mean the tutorial was nothing like the rest of the game. Felt like the real tutorial was finding the first 4 sages.

I love how anything with building now is apparently a rip off of Minecraft. Lol

I would probably give it an 8/10. The Game is really amazing and definitively an Upgrade from botw, but it still has it's drawbacks. Some of them are: - The new Sages Abillities are absolutely unusable due to them running around and having to be caught. BOTW got this better. - Weapon breaking is not as bad as in BOTW but still very annoying! - The fight system is a bit boring. Dodge mechanics are slow, enemies are slow and flurry rush and time stop archery is still way too OP and makes every fight boring. And you can become OP way too easily. - I still miss some Special weapons from the old Games, Like the grappling hook, whip and so on. - A lot of shrines are more of a Chore than a fun challenge - Glider etc breaking after a short time is annoying as well - The overworld and Sky Islands can be explored WAY to quick - The Underground is pretty boring Don't get me wrong. I love that game and I had real Cool adventures, but some things just aren't optimal.

„The construction mechanic isn‘t as deep as people say“ Meanwhile: Developers minds are being blown that this was even made possible and all kinds of people are having fun building a functioning Death Star or a breakdancing fish or whatever. 😂

I didn't love Totk as much as everyone else. I probably wouldn't give it a terrible review, but I miss the old game formula with the linear dungeon/item/boss stuff with a long main plot-line. I'm not really a fan of construction mechanics.

The people saying it’s all DLC are technically not 100% wrong. Nintendo wanted to make a ton of the stuff in this game into a 3rd DLC for BotW, but since they wanted to add sooo much more stuff, they made a new game. I think that’s the reason it took a super long time to make, because it was originally only meant to be added onto an already created game, and they had to create new characters, abilities and animations for Link
