What exactly is it that you think "lost" means? _Death in Space_ , _The Transformation_ , _The Space-Watch Murders_ , these are lost sci-fi horror. Nothing on this list is. As an archivist I hate seeing the term 'lost' applied so erroneously to film like this. Reddit and lostmediawiki do the same. It makes it near impossible to get the word out on modern films that may be genuinely lost if home copies aren't found like _today_ . It's already several years too late for many first-generation TV films. Stuff like this makes the term meaningless to people. If I say "1974's _House of Evil_ is LOST, unless someone has an off-air recording", they don't take it literally. They just think I'm looking for a film I haven't seen on TV for awhile rather than a film that may only exist via a 40-year-old homemade copy, i.e. it needs to be backed up and sent to an archive, DON'T THROW IT AWAY! .

@Geoff Shaw London After Midnight was exactly the film I thought of when the title to the post was "lost" Sci Fi / horror, even though LAM isn't sci fi. The most famous lost film of all... GREED! I'd love to see the 9 hour Stroheim original cut... once. I've seen the patchwork version on TCM that's like 4 hours long.

@Geoff Shaw I have loved that show when I was young. (Used to watch it with my grandfather.) I grew up, the internet came with the promise to save and archive everything, make everything available... One day I'm thinking to myself : "What if I just found that show and watched it from the beginning? How did it all began?" Then this hit me... Somehow, at the time, it wasn't enough important to save that show. No one yet knew how important it would be, how iconic it would become. (To the point it is used as a marker of the era in Outlander's 1960s scenes!) And there it is. Some other gems, like the original Metropolis, will never be restored completely. Physical pirate copies is all that saved what we are now able to watch. Somehow, I do not believe the streaming services will be better in that department. Someone should make them accountable of the task to archive their own stuff. Even if only through a "print on demand" service. One day, our kids might thank us to have saved these titles too.

Question for you horror fans.... I'm a big movie buff but I've been trying to identify a movie for 2 decades now... trying here now. It's a horror movie for sure. A teenage boy gets possessed by a demon. In the trailer I saw as a kid, the guy is at school in gym class. They're playing basketball, he looks at another guy and tells him "you want the ball? Have it" or something like that.. throws it so hard, the other guys receives it on his chest and spits blood. It' probably a 1982 or 1983 movie... rings a bell to anyone??? Help out a dude please... been looking for that movie for years...and no, it's not the beast within...

Why the clickbait? The list would have been a good one without clogging searches for info on actual lost media. Stuff like this is very frustrating for people that actually care about finding and archiving lost media. Some of these aren't even unknown or are on mainstream platforms like Netflix. Beyond the Black Rainbow can be rented on KZitem.

What exactly is it that you think "lost" means? Death in Space , The Transformation , The Space-Watch Murders , these are lost sci-fi horror. Nothing on this list is. As an archivist I hate seeing the term 'lost' applied so erroneously to film like this. Reddit and lostmediawiki do the same. It makes it near impossible to get the word out on modern films that may be genuinely lost if home copies aren't found like today . It's already several years too late for many first-generation TV films. Stuff like this makes the term meaningless to people. If I say "1974's House of Evil is LOST, unless someone has an off-air recording", they don't take it literally. They just think I'm looking for a film I haven't seen on TV for awhile rather than a film that may only exist via a 40-year-old homemade copy, i.e. it needs to be backed up and sent to an archive, DON'T THROW IT AWAY! .

Anyone else watch this channel just to hear the narrator mispronounce simple words? Just me? Okay.

Well, yes, but I was also attracted to the use of phrases like "the acting performances". I was half expecting a comment like "and the action sequences were filled with a lot of action scenes".

@@reanimatedfish the thing is, any younger film buff would have heard of these as well. Eg. Any John Carpenter fan would have looked at his earlier work, so would have seen Dark Star on the list of his films.
