Shibamata has been shoehorned into my next travel itinerary and videos like remind me why-- thank you for filming and uploading this. See, you just can't see everything cool in Tokyo during one trip and it's the sort of city that needs repeated visits and very thorough prior research so you don't miss all the really charming beautiful stuff-- which in Tokyo is thrillingly hidden, not so much by design but some other magical psychogeographic force. I don't think I've ever been to a city on Earth that has so much fantastic HIDDEN stuff that you need to REALLY research and explore in order to discover. You don't amble around the main streets and find 'the good stuff' via that lazy scaredy-cat method in Tokyo; wander down the little alleys, go down the basements, go up the stairs, knock on dirty doors, explore residential areas that have secret cafes and shops. Thank you so much for reaffirming my decision to find the time to spend a full day exploring this area next time round. Fantastic.
