Hi! We are going on our first Norwegian cruise later this year! Did you like the Starbucks package and feel it was worth it? Did they have alternative milks like coconut milk? Or oat milk for the drinks? How did you like the specialty dining? We currently have one night, but are thinking about buying two more and wonder if it would be worth it? Thanks!

People think we're nuts for loving NCL, but we love the casual-ness, the freestyle eating and the crew, but more importantly, on the cruises we've been on, their response to food allergies is fantastic. The last one I was on, there was an allergy specialist who would give me all the next day's menus and I could find out what was in them and also put in my orders ahead of time. And even on the day we decided to do the Brazilian steakhouse, they were able to adjust all the food for my meal. A far cry better than the other companies we've been on, where it was 'oh just tell the waiter when you order'. Yes, it works, but I hate spending several minutes of my mealtime sounding like Sally from 'When Harry Met Sally.' I like it when it's worked out in advance.

Doing a bermuda cruise next week in a haven suit. We absolutely love ncl and feel like you can get more of the basics like drink package internet specialty dining for free but if you want more it's only a few more dollars but it's your choice. With carnival you get a cheap fair but you get absolutely nothing with it so it all averages out in the end. If you are looking for cheap you have the discount cruise lines just like flying. You can go first class with American or you can go with spirit.

I have cruised 3x with Norwegian. I like the free style dining. I like eating and getting served at restaurants for breakfast instead of going to buffet. I always choose a 5:30 dinner time, no crowd and then just go to the 24 hour restaurants for light snack after shows.

We have mainly cruised Norwegian. My 93 year old dad loves to go cruising and his favorite place is the cigar lounge. Many of the NCL ships have nice cigar lounges and the staff are always so lovely to him. They watch out for him. We also travel with my 90 year old mother-in-law and the staff is particularly kind and courteous to her. When your parents are treated well and have a great time, it goes a long way with us.

I love NCL! You will love it. In our opinion (my family) NCL is the best value. Free at Sea is amazing. If you play in the casino, be sure to get a players card! Your points can be used at the end of the cruise for $ off your room charges! They take off more than they are worth in free gaming and, once you hit a certain level, other perks are included like energy drinks at the casino bar, premium water, etc! In addition, even if you are not a big gambler, you may be contacted by them for free cabin on your next cruise! You pay taxes, port fees, etc, but cabin comped! If you play a bit more, Haven Suite comps are common! The smaller ships are our favorite. The Gem in particular is our favorite! The Jewel is the exact twin lol. Pearl very similar. Those 3 are our favorites.

We just returned from our very first cruise ever (which happened to be on the NCL Encore). We immediately noticed the same thing with the staff! They were so fun to be around and seemed to truly enjoy their work. We visited the Local and the buffet often and the wait staff always went above and beyond. We became great friends with some and the others we didn't personally meet were also singing and laughing and interacting with guests. We also experienced the same high level of cleanliness and felt so comfortable! We never worried about germs at all!

NCL has become my favorite line over the past several years. The freestyle sailing, free at sea, and the crew have made them stand out. The food is overall very good, and if you ever have an issue with an item in one of the dining rooms, if you bring it to their attention, they will go above and beyond to remedy the situation so you are happy. Their staff is AMAZING and will do everything in their power to make sure you have a fabulous time. Each line does things their own way to appeal to specific cruisers, but for me NCL is a great fit!

Just got back from cruising on The Encore. Bigger than the Sky which was our first cruise but I love Norwegian. Didn't really do the pool or hot tubs and just basic dining was great for us. Entertainment was good and we don't drink alcohol or coffee so water, tea and kiwi strawberry worked well for us. Didn't get to try the water slides but did play BINGO. My only drawback this time was getting sick in the middle of the night Friday which I blame on something I ate on the shore excursion. Nurse on board took care of me but my Saturday was wasted until late afternoon. Every trip we learn something but we love the Freestyle. The only other drawback is that the beaches charge for chairs...we just found a picnic table. Our last port there were too many vendors bugging us.

Friends of mine tried the Haven and enjoyed it. They said that it prepared them for trying out the ultra luxury ships where all passengers get the pampered experience and the ships can go to smaller more interesting ports. We recently went on a voyage with them on an ultra luxury ship. At first they said that they missed the feeling of being superior to other passengers. But pretty quickly they got used to the great service and the fact that all their preferences were known by the crew. I think it cam home to them when we did dock next to one of those mega cruise ships at one port. Our ship was so tiny in comparison. Our friends will now never go back to big cruise ships.

We are doing our first NCL cruise in a few days on the Dawn and it is going to be interesting to be able to compare/contrast the experiences. We booked with the Free At Sea package so that will take out some of the differences and I upgraded to the unlimited premium wifi package to even things out. At the end, I'm going to break down all the expenses to a cost per day and compare it to Viking to see how much the price difference is. Should be interesting.

NCL is our favorite. We love the laid back freestyle vibe. One major thing for us is BOGO airfare with free at sea. We are landlocked in the middle of the country without a major airport. While we lose control of the times we fly, we can't touch their pricing on our own. We love free at sea, period. If we added all those things to another cruise, it would be the same price, and we did compare. We prefer to pay for it all up front and kind of have that all inclusive feel.

Thanks! My husband and I have come to love cruising and have almost exclusively settled on NCL. We like the smaller ships; i.e. Dawn, Gem, Spirit, Sun, Pearl, Star, and Jewel and traveling longer (minimum 7 days and sometimes back to back)..31 days is the longest so far. We like the casual atmosphere of NCL, the super cleanliness, extraordinary top notch entertainment and the ever helpful friendly crew and the best buffet on any other cruise line we've been on. We would probably never go on one of the larger mega ships as we are not much on 'amusement park' entertainment or having to make advance reservations for everything as we like the 'what shall we do, where shall we eat today kind of folks. We were thinking of trying the new Prima and/or Viva, but advance theatre reservations are required, plus a couple of other small things we didn't really like; so will probably stick to the same class of ship. I am disappointed in the new charge for room service, but it's small charge and we don't use it often. We NEVER get those expensive drink packages as you really have to be a huge drinker to have it be a value; even if it's offered as 'free' as the gratuities are still 18% of what it would have cost. We instead opt for a 'bar set up' in our room. You pre-order (you have to call as it's not online) includes mixers; cost is more that buying at the store, but way way cheaper than the packages. You have it delivered to your room and there you make your own whenever you want. Please we enjoy local food and drink while in port. Main dining is always enjoyable with great food, specialty dining top notch (love Cagney's), all restaurants and buffet have been wonderful. Coffee, we are lovers (so not Starbucks..LOL) we ask for a coffeepot in our cabin and bring our own coffee (use refillable tea bags) and we're always good to go there! The coffee that they deliver with the pot isn't too back just a bit weak works if we run out. Happy Cruising!

I loved NCL Encore Alaskan cruise. I took my daughter on this cruise as a thank you. We loved it. December 10,2022 we took a cruise to Panama Canal on the Pearl. The inside cabin was horrible. I was surprised to find the walls were not metal so my magnetic hooks were of no help for organizing. The worst part of the cruise was an excursion I purchased from NCL. It was the ferry to take us through the Lockes. I had the Free At Sea package so I paid $139 for myself and $189 for my daughter. We were bussed to the ferry to get started. We were given a horrible lunch. My daughter didn't even try hers and discarded it. I tried one bite and discarded. Ok, no real big deal as we weren't expecting anything fancy. When we approached the first lock we waited about 20 minutes before we were told a cargo ship was going to let us go before them. We were told we would have a 45 minute wait instead of a 2 hour wait. After waiting probably an hour, we were told they would be moving to the side for us to unload and reload our busses back to the Pearl. There had been a mechanical fire at 6:30 that morning so we would not be able to go through the lock. This excursion was the main reason for booking the cruise. I asked for a full refund when we got back to the ship and was told they could only give me $51 total refund! I didn't accept the amount and kept trying for at least 75% refund. I was told the supervisor/manager wasn't there and if I would come back tomorrow he would check with him/her. When I returned I was told they were sorry but $51 was the best they could do. How disappointing! I don't know if I will cruise with NCL again. I have a few stocks invested in the cruise line I will be selling off as soon as their stock goes up enough to recapture my original investment. I'm so happy my daughter was able to experience the Encore as her first cruise. The Pearl would have turned her off on all cruising if it had been her first. Love watching you and getting so much information especially as I'm fairly new to cruising (3).

I do like cruising Norwegian. I'm not a huge pool fan, I'm not interested in the amusement park experiences, and do very little shopping on cruiselines, so several of the "didn't care for" things mentioned in your video, really don't matter much to me or my wife. We largely agree with the "things you liked" mentioned in the video. The staff is great, everything is clean, service is exceptional, the shows are in general better than Princess, but perhaps not up to the Royal Carribean level. I also very much enjoy the varried music options and the numerous observation locations to watch the world go by. As for the costs....well, you just have to look at your budget and comparison shop, decide what is important, and remember, you can't take your nest egg with you when you die. The other thing I like about Norwegian is the available itineraries. They go places I'd like to see, as do others, and I sail various lines depending on my vacationing objectives...so virtually everybody has earned a little bit of my nest egg, some will earn more, others won't see another dime. Happy cruising.

Here is where our experiences were different. 1) There was less variety on the buffet than the other five cruise lines. So much of the buffet consists of hamburgers and pizza. 2) We found the staff to be less trained and a lot less polished than HAL and Celebrity, especially in the MDR. And NO ONE was smiling at all which was a real shock to us. And the supervisors were downright sour. 3) All of the entertainment venues were really small for a large ship. Add to that was the people who was saving seats for all their friends. You had to get there at least an hour earlier to get a seat. My cruise next week will be our 7th on seven different lines. I think that after trying nearly every line, we will be sailing on HAL and Celebrity.

I wish all cruise lines would just maybe increase cruise cost up $200-$300 and include some of these items they keep charging for once we are aboard. The thing i diliked the most on my Norwegian cruise I went on in March was the lack of options for late night food. Who doesn't get munchies while drinking? The only late night food was room service that would cost extra or the sit down and order off a menu in the casual restaurant. I just wanted to grab a quick pizza slice or some simple quick buffet food, not wait in line to be seated and get a menu and then order and then wait for food to be cooked and brought. Who wants to do that when your tispy. I think if the bars are still serving alcohol and playing music to dance to then at very least a pizza buffet gas station grab and go type food should be available. 😅 but clearly it wasn't a deal breaker because I just booked another cruise with them tonight for October.

Something to consider about this ship in general (relates to the shopping areas and pool area design specifically) - this ship was originally built for the Asian market. When it was decided this ship wouldn't thrive there it went through a bit of a makeover and was brought to the US in 2019

I have cruised with Norwegian for the third time as current as a week ago and they are outstanding from food, drink and entertainment. The crew has always gone out of there way to make things over the top. Clean and friendly atmosphere every time. Only a Karen would nit pick the experience offered on board. We even had a bar waiter sew a leather strap on my wife's purse that had been ripped off during a excursion. Every show in the theater was high quality. Can't wait to spend my next vacation with them.

We agree with all of your positive points. As far as your negative points concerning specialty coffee, souvenirs, special pool areas, steak or heavy beef dinners really don’t apply to us, so we don’t need or miss that. We discovered many dishes that we enjoyed. We enjoyed the entertainment in the theaters and especially the solo artists at different bars and venues. The relaxed atmosphere and dress code was a definite plus (fewer clothes to pack), since sometimes we had to pack for two seasons.

I only sail with NCL so I have nothing to compare it with (solo cruiser here), but I agree. The crew really are amazing and love what they do. As for the added costs, I'm personally a bit surprised that they keep using space for things like the Galaxy Pavilion and Go Karts. Personally with the free drink packages, top tier speciality dining, and entertainment, I see NCL as line for people not bringing kids, and in my experience (though I don't sail during holidays) there are very few of them.

@@jameswg13 I always use the studio cabins. The solo section is absolutly beautiful, has a nice lounge for a post port snack, coffee or glass of wine/beer during the singles meet and greet, and has all the space I need. We took a NCL cruise on the Bliss in December 2021 and I have to agree with you on one key point: the main dining room food. Every night that we went, we didn’t have a bad meal but, like you said, the food was mediocre. A lot of the food was lacking in flavor and quality that we expected based on other lines. We also had dinner at the French restaurant and the seafood restaurant. The French restaurant was disappointing in that we paid extra and we were met with the quality of food that you would find in the main dining room. However, the seafood restaurant was a highlight as the food was flavorful and definitely worth the price. One other thing that we experienced was the happiness and friendliness of the crew with one exception. We were able to make friends with some of the waiters, and staff at the mojito bar were so friendly and started to learn our order because we went every night. However, one night we were eating in the main dining room at a table next to two art auction employees. At one point, there was a misunderstanding with their order and the waiter was having a hard time understanding what they wanted. He was so kind and professional but the art auction employees were condescending and rude to the point where we felt like we needed to complain. One of the managers came around during the meal and dismissed our concern. My partner even went up to the maitre d’ and all they did was go over to the employees and quickly tell them to knock it off. This ended up being not okay for us, so we had to apologize to the waiter because we felt so bad for him and none of his managers were standing up for him. It ultimately left a bad taste in our mouth because of how amazing the crew were.

I love cruising because of its inclusive nature: food and most activities to name 2. We were on NCL Bliss last December. While we liked the ship, we were disappointed that NCL charged for anything mildly interesting. Yes, NCL always marketed itself as the cruise line that offers the most choices. That’s true as long as we are willing to pay in addition to the cruise fare. At least on our cruise the mini-golf was no-charge. So they are charging extra fees even for mini-golf, next they’ll charge for the use of onboard water slides. All these extra charges are eroding NCL’s value for money. We can book into MSC Yacht Club for not much more than we paid for the Club Balcony on NCL, and for Haven prices we can get on Viking for its small-ship experience. Yeah, we won’t be sailing with NCL again anytime soon.

I personally like that I who doesn't use the go carts and such doesn't have to pay for them in my fare any only those who use them do, something that people may not think of when they are having to pay for those activities. I love that I can eat where and when I want and pretty much (within reason) wear whatever I want when I go eat, for that reason I sail exclusively with NCL

We have cruised NCL more than any other line and overall really like them. I think with the drinks package, if you cruised RCCL and bought a package that included drinks and specialty coffee it might end up being about the same or even more than "free at see". I have found on the Breakaway size ships, pool space was limited particularly trying to find shady areas. I have not been on a ship with a race track yet; but, it worries me that might take away even more such space. I do think getting the drinks and a couple specialty meals is great, we also get two more being platinum which really didn't take us long to attain. I agree their buffets are very good. We found Carnival's to be awful and ended up being pretty disappointed even with Princess. I love that they are all a bit different and seem to suit different people. Thirty years ago, I would have probably loved Carnival.

I think NCL has taken a lot of the above complaints to heart as they seem to be increasing the cruise quality in the Prima class. Food quality is definitely a big thing for them. One of my big likes on the prima is the vastly increased deck space for Adults. They did not get rid of the amusement park stuff but they scaled back the quantity, increased the quality and stuck them in an area that is no longer fighting for space with the more sedate cruiser.

We are booked on the sky March 30th for a 9 day, with my brother and his wife, who are in their 70’s, it’s their first cruise ever, so I thought the smaller ship would be a good choice to start them off with. And the fact that it also presents the challenge for you to address your anxiety around flying is an important bonus. Great decision to get support as skill building and grounding will only help you to visit farther and more exotic destinations and expand your cruise line options. Like me, I'm sure your followers can't wait for more incredible reviews, guidance and more of your overall cruising expertise. Sailed on the Joy a few weeks ago as a solo cruiser and LOVED it so much I'm booked for '23. Some of the points you raised I totally understood. Regarding the food served in the Main Dining Room, I agree it was often mediocre. But I was grateful for the variety that NCL Joy offered like the Garden Cafe Buffet, The Local, Taste and Savor and of course, the specialty restaurants - which were extra $$. If I was dissatisfied with a meal or was hungry later, I would visit another venue. Regarding the beverage package, I agree, it is pricey. But honestly I do think the premium beverage package was worth the upgrade as it included unlimited water, unlimited Starbucks and just about most top shelf alcohol options. Having unlimited Starbucks throughout the day, Chi-Chi's by the pool (Pina Colada with vodka - Grey Goose) and bottles of Moet at dinner really put me in vacation mode. Yes, the extras will definitely add up. But until I'm ready to Ievel up to Celebrity or Viking - NCL is great. I am thinking about Royal Caribbean and Virgin in my not so distant cruise future. Again, thanks for your insight, feedback and honest reviews.

I love the bands and the shows. The performers are so talented. I like the excellent airfares, and being able to hop on the bus at baggage claim and be taken directly to the ship. I always read a lot and their libraries are fantastic. I don't buy many extras; I travel solo, and stay in a balcony room. I am allowed to use the Solo Lounge if I want to stop by for a cappuccino. (at no charge.) I always use the coffee maker in my room, and eat a few meals in the specialty dining restaurants. I have met so many nice people while traveling on their ships, and I feel safe. They give me VIP treatment, so I am spoiled.

Are you sure you're sailing out of London ? I think maybe it'll be Southampton or Tilbury . Southampton is in the county of Hampshire. Tilbury in Essex. Just home from a 7-day Princess cruise. They still have formal nights & the other nights are "smart casual." I'm not sure how much more casual people could get if Princess adopted the Freestyle dress like NCL has. There were so many passengers who looked like they were getting ready to pull up the weeds in their yard rather than going out to dinner. I'm all for being comfortable, but some folks took "comfortable" to the max!

You took a 7-day trip on a discount cruise ship, not an ocean liner. Some would argue that a jacket and nice slacks doesn't even qualify as semi-formal either. Doing away with the formal nights is the right way to go. People are on vacation, there not there to impress your pompous, self-entitled person as a source of free entertainment while you complain about prices of a drink package. You want formal, go Cunard.

We just cruised from NYC to Bermuda I agree the food on Norwegian Joy was subpar. The main dining room didn't afford the opportunity from any seafood dishes. The offerings were just average the steakhouse Cagney's what's a bit better but not by much the service was really with steaks coming out well before the other items. There seemed to be really poor insulation from Cabin to cabin we could hear conversations in other cabins right next to us and I've never experienced that on Royal Caribbean. There is a total lack of deck chairs the pool area was beyond frustrating where you couldn't even get a deckchair unless you put a towel out at 7 am. A co-traveler of mine had a dirty bathroom with remnants left over from the prior passengers we also heard many complaints from other passengers that they found random clothing in their room when they checked in and very dirty floors. We were on Deck twelve and had people partying till almost 3 a.m. when I contacted guest services they couldn't couldn't figure out where the sound was coming from though I told them when I look out my balcony I can see a crowd of 30 people on the deck having a good old time partying. And meanwhile there are cameras on every deck so frustrating! I was told to complain to the corporate office in Miami. Needless to say myself and my traveling companions are no big rush to go on Norwegian anytime soon.

To the point that we have avoided trying another cruise line in fear that it will not meet that expectation we are accustomed to. My one cruise was an NCL from Galveston... and they never told us that several of the engines had been down for the past month! The Captain came on the loud speaker to say it was too dangerous to go all the way to Belize/Honduras with possible hurricanes (he didn't mention they were slow due to broken engines). He decided we'd go to VeraCruz instead! With a short excursion in Progresso (Chichen Itza). AND he did NOT tell us this until we were away from dock & streaming to the Gulf of Mexico -- we were stuck. We complained later & only got credit for another NCL cruise, which I'll never do! I guess this is as good of a place as any to tell my NCL story and why it is unlikely I would sail with them again. In October of 21, I took an an Alaskan cruise on the Encore. The ship was great, food was great, I was happy with the service. However I became "disgruntled" as I felt they had lied to me about certain charges. I originally booked a standard balcony and then did the "bid to upgrade" program and won a "Club Balcony Suite." And the word "suite" is what caused the issued. Because on their website (and other places) they say room service charges don't apply to "suite guests." And as it turns out, that's not really what they mean. They mean customers of suites in "the Haven." I had in part, based my bid for the "Club Balcony Suite" on the idea that I would not get charges for room service and I think that's what really set me off. And to this day, after reaching out to their corporate customer service, they have yet to respond to why their info says "suite" guests don't pay room service, but somehow my Club Balcony Suite was not a suite. (Which I get, of course it's not a true suite, but it's what THEY called it so what else was I to think?) And I know, I need to let it go, but something about their petty little word games about what a suite is just rubbed me the wrong way. (Plus while on the cruise I found myself wondering WHAT ELSE was lurking that I was going to get charged for) I get mistakes happen, but they still have that misinformation on their website. And I can't shake the feeling that they're being intentionally deceitful. OK, that's my rant for the day. LOL

I have been on 8 cruises in total, all with NCL. I like that it is basically DIY cruising. I typically stick to the smaller ships and don't get Free at Sea because the mandatory tips for the "free" beverage and specialty dining don't work for me. My partner and I along with my mom and sister just took a 10 night mediterranean cruise late August on the NCL Escape. Much of what you stated were our experiences as well. My sister noticed a lot of the main dining food to be bland. I found it pretty hit or miss. This was my partner and my first NCL cruise, but we had been on RCL in June. We have to say, it seems like both lines are still recovering. RCL was a bit less hit or miss with food, but not as good as before the pandemic at least on the ship we went on, Navigator. However, with regards to the extra charges, we had WAY more children onboard than I was expecting to see for a 10 night cruise, yet many times we checked out the arcade, or peeked inside when walking by, barely anyone was using it. Every game was over a dollar to play which seemed a bit much (and odd pricing too, $1.57 per play on some..). We did have a large ropes course which WAS included which was pretty nice. Overall we still had a wonderful time. Oh, and also had Osheehans which is just like The Local, and it was open 24/7 on the Escape (still a bit of hit or miss with the bar food too). It overlooked the "atrium" sort of area with the trivia, singers, and other happenings as well which was nice.

Thank you for the review. We are going on the Joy, for the first time, in August. NCL is our main cruise company. Some of the extras are annoying. But I did notice when we went on cruised that were all inclusive, I did not use all the amenities that I already paid for. So I'm not sure how much money I really saved versus pay as you go. I guess having to pay extra onboard makes me less likely to pay for something I really am not interested in. I know a lot of people complain about the internet. But if you are not running a business (such as travel agent or blogger), why do you need to be online so much on vacation. My phone is only a camera when I'm on a cruise. Everything else can wait until I get home.

My first NCL cruise is next year. I like the "free style" dress code, as I usually am flying to a cruise port, and formal or semi formal dresses take up a lot of space and weight. I don't travel with children so the extra's of arcades or the like are not a problem. I did notice on my last cruise in August, that the shopping was mediocre. Which is ok, as I usually do not buy much on the cruise ship itself. I prefer small ships, so not having extra's like pool slides and several pools is ok. Entertainment is a big one, as I like nightly shows. Very disappointed when they get cancelled and the is no real replacement show. Especially if you are really looking forward to a show or activity. We went on the Carnival Horizon a few years back, and the one thing I was looking forward to was the Sky ride. They had been having nothing but problems with it since installation, as they said it would be fixed on our cruise. It was not, so disappointed on that one. That was the one of the main draws of going on that ship. Thanks for your videos. I love them, so informative!

going on a norwegian ( Sky) cruise in November. It's our annual all girls vacation, we are all super excited, we love norwegian the best so far as you have stated the staff are the friendliness, ships are clean, well maintained and you have a variety of things to do both day and/ or night

I was Just was on sky few weeks ago. Had a great time!! Food was ok in the buffet area main dining was like this video said. The drinks were flowing but water and coffee were at a cost. Tip - take a yeti cup with you and fill with water at the buffet area. Happy to answer any questions if you have any. I would cruise on sky again.

I definitely enjoy NCL. I find the relaxed atmosphere suits our family. My daughter loves to dress up and her Dad and I are more relaxed.

We have cruised NCL exclusively. Saying that we haven’t cruised since 2017 due the Covid. We will be on the Escape for the 2nd time in February 2023 and hoping the crew is like we remember and the entertainment.

We have cruised with NCL 6 times in the past. What we like is the Freestyle cruising. My husband likes to dress casually and loves that there is no need to bring a suit for formal nights. We just got off the Joy from a 10 day Canada/ New England cruise. Our best meal was at Le Bistro. As you mentioned, the main dining room food was mediocre but I found the service at Taste and Savor excellent. The staff was so nice and always made you feel so important. We ate at the Buffet mostly for lunch because we like making our own entry salads. We did not do any of the paid activities and declined the beverage package as we are not drinkers, including sodas. We found the coffee in the buffet and dining rooms to be terrible. There was no coffee aroma or flavor at all. We ordered Lattes from Starbucks on two mornings. I also wish the costs for the photos were less expensive. Internet was slow and spotty. Free airfare for the second person was the biggest perk for us. All in all, it was a great cruise.

I was on the Joy in March 2022. I agree with everything you said. I know that this ship was designed for the Asian market and that pools are not a big item in that area which leads to a smaller pools and a larger pool deck. Yes, there were a lot of upcharges. We were lucky with the virtual gaming area, we had one child who was not old enough for the teen club and was given a day pass to the virtual gaming centre. At the end of the day, the attendant gave him a second day pass which he used when we missed Costa Maya due to weather. Oh, the coffee onboard is an insult to everything else called coffee. Except the Starbucks.

We just took the Eastern Canada cruise. I agree with you completely! I couldn't even get a pad and pen! Plus the shopping was very little if you were not buying liquor. My partner also complained about the steak in the dining room.

We have only sailed on NCL, on the smaller ships. I drink little alcohol and my husband doesn't drink it at all, so no drinks package. We like coffee, juice, lemonade, and Coke. We last sailed in 2017, due to the pandemic and illnesses. Back then, you could only get Pepsi onboard, so no soft drink package for us, either. We drank our Coke in port. We're happy with the buffet, main dining, and occasionally a specialty meal. We enjoy gambling on the ship and the theater entertainment. We do use the 50 dollars per port day excursion credit all the time. We cruise to relax, and don't enjoy dressing up much, so we love this more casual cruise line. I do wish it was easier to find a lounge chair after breakfast, but we manage. What we love the most is having pleasant interactions with staff members and great conversations with our cabin steward. The staff is wonderful. Looking forward to finally cruising again in 2024, on NCL.
