1. Blindfolding our guests for the aisle walk 2. Bespoke collar for my guide dog Miss Molly from Eleganza (gifted) 3. 3D Sound and scented flowers up the aisle that grew intensity as I approached my husband to be 4. Kew Gardens gave us an audio described tour with a bespoke guide who does accessible tours all the time around the gardens. 5. Navilens codes on all my signs and table talkers. Nothing was really written. They could access the menu, table plans and cocktail list with the code. 6. Having glasses from different ranges so I would know the difference for definite between drinks 7. Audio Guest Book 8. A soundscape from our videographer along with extra videos of our guests audio describing by their outfits and telling us their favourite moment of the day 9. a buggy to transport disabled guests between buildings 10. when arranging our canapés we made sure it was food that was easy and tidy to eat. Eg. Our veggie sushi rolls were amended to have a glaze instead of a dipping sauce. Perfect for a blind bride in a white dress. 11. Braille on the name cards 12. I got taught how to make the sugar flowers on our cake by Rosalind Miller so I knew exactly what went into them

I'm partial disabled and use mobility aids. Earlier ths year mu husband and I went to a friend's wedding. I went in my wheelchair, and it was wonderful. Everyone was accommodating in the best way, holding doors, lifting my chair over thresholds, helping me get food that I couldn't quite reach. No one was rude or tried to overstep and it was amazing. It doesn't take as much as people think to make an event feel inclusive, even if you can't do it all.

How did blindfolding your guests fit the aisle walk make it accessible?
@Alici_Evans

So, that they would understand how she felt being a blind person walking down the aisle, plus her husband had never seen her dress beforehand, so when her dad gave her hand to said husband: he was able to feel her dress and understand her feelings about the dress when she first tried it on.

That part was super weird. Imagine if a person in a wheelchair decided to put everyone in wheelchairs for her wedding so they knew how it felt. Like whats the point of that? @@huginug That was only for her walk down the aisle and I don’t see any reason as to why it was a bad thing. Such a beautiful example of how universal design makes everything better - you not only thought of things to make your experience richer and more memorable, but every single one of those implemented ideas made the wedding more unique and more engaging for everyone that was not blind! It’s why we need to blur the line between the disabled and abled worlds - this is just one example of work that you’d be so talented at that is only enhanced by your being blind - you’d be a magnificent wedding/event planner because you’re detail oriented but don’t lose sight of the big picture, you’re very honed in on the experiential opportunities that you can weave into the event to create stronger memories, and you’ve got a different way of understanding people, their personalities, and strengths, which makes you the best planner of the emotional and touching moments. These are just things I see in your work across social media platforms, and I’m sure that your loved ones could say so much you’re talented in. Still, it’s an easy example of how much beauty the world loses in undervaluing our contributions as disabled people, and not seeing us as qualified for all kinds of work. It’s frustrating to have to make our own way, but you’ve shown how you can do it, still, with this account. Not to mention - the triumphant day that you get to marry the love of your life and include all the things that make it for both of you! All the more reason everyone should be following you, Lucy. You’ve done a beautiful job.
