Christmas is the brightest holiday for many people around the world. Some celebrate it by gathering with their family and eating delicious food. Others choose more unconventional methods that have survived the centuries. There is a lot of diversity in family holidays, especially if you are in Europe. For example, in Bulgaria, delicious food is revered, regardless of whether you cook at home or order it from a restaurant. The most important thing is for the family to come together. Of course, small children also enjoy Christmas presents. However, did you know that in Austria, for example, in addition to Santa Claus, there is also his antipode? He is horned and hairy and punishes naughty children. At the beginning of December and especially on the 5th, men dressed as Krampus roam the streets, armed with chains and baskets to kidnap the most naughty children. Since Austria is a Catholic country and they try to keep the children under control, Krampus is Santa's evil assistant, his antithesis, who must bring discipline.
In Spain, and more precisely in Catalonia, they have two extremely strange traditions with figures and a tree. Today on #theclashers I'll show you them too and you'll wonder how they came up with it. Definitely #christmas is celebrated differently around the world. In Iceland, for example, they enjoy a very strange delicacy, while in Japan they just like to eat chicken, and that too from a large American chain. Definitely #traditional Christmas is already something different on every continent. Almost all of us have seen all kinds of Christmas decorations, which in Bulgarian cities become more and more nondescript every year instead of the other way around. For this, we are heading to Mexico, and more specifically the city of Oaxaca, where December 23rd is celebrated, and now attention - the Night of Radishes. It sounds a bit like a scary movie with elements of healthy eating, but it's actually a "vegetable carving" competition.
In Norway, they decorate a "Julbok" or goat made of straw, which at first may seem strange to you, but it is connected with the worship of Thor, who had a carriage with a team of goats. The Christmas season itself begins on December 3rd and is called Yulebord, with "Little Christmas" also celebrated on December 23rd. There is also a small touch of #science in this video as science is all around us and The Clashers' theme is like that. Today, however, we're going to talk about "12 Perverse CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS THAT WILL MAKE YOUR TREE CRISP."
We are moving to Guatemala, where a week before Christmas, the whole house is being thoroughly cleaned and it has to be lit up. Not because guests are waiting, but because according to the locals, evil spirits and the devil live in the dirty corners of the home, so cleanliness is of particular importance. Thus, before Christmas, a more serious cleaning and disposal of old garbage begins, which, however, is not just thrown into the containers, but piled up outside. I hope you sit around a table with nice food and your whole family and watch this diverse video!
