Ladders are the devil! I had just finished my cabin exterior and was putting on the last fascia board and got in a hurry and the ladder tipped and I tore out the ligament in my knee for the 3rd time. Like you I was alone and had to drive myself to the emergency room. I have been off grid 20 years now and recently I moved downstairs from the loft to a day bed because the ladder was no longer safe. That is one of the dangers of living off grid alone and why you need good communications in the event of a problem. Best on your recovery!

Very sorry to hear about your accident. Hope your recovery goes well. Give yourself time and don't push it. Keep the cabin fun, although I assume you're anxious to start enjoying it this summer.

I am 75 and had to stop climbing trees, riding backcountry on horses, and may sell the motorcycle. You are young so take good care of yourself and consider getting either a SPOT or being sure you have cell service at the cabin, being alone with power tools is always a risk. Thanks for the post and heal up!!! Bob in Nevada

Well sir, I can commiserate. It wasn't too long ago I fell from the upstairs to the downstairs in my shed while hanging a deer. Yup ladder involved. Ended up with a morel lavallee lesion on my hip, which took my doctor 3 years to diagnose. More or less an internal de-gloving. Ended up with a grapefruit size lump that would not go away. 3 years and two surgeries and I can finally sleep on that side again. I wish you a speedy recovery.

I was so glad to see that you posted a new video and sad when I found out further into the video that you got seriously hurt. Hope that you have a speedy recovery. Looking forward to when you are physically healthy enough to get back to the build. That sense of satisfaction you'll get when completing each of your many projects will be healing for your mental health. Good luck.

Sorry for your troubles my friend. Take care of yourself and get better soon. Thank you for all your videos so far. And thank you for the timely warning. I work alone on my own cabin sometimes; this is a good warning. Sometimes a fall like this can leave us a bit shaken up and feeling fragile. It will pass and leave us wiser.

I had a bad feeling when I saw the dog, those things are near and dear to people but, they really destroy your property and can seriously endanger your health. Glad it wasn't worse.
